Adapting Stainless BBQ Grill

Somehow I have ended up with two stainless steel grills that won't fit my home barbecue, so I've turned my mind to how I might use one for camping.

I already have a solid steel plate for camping - it has nuts welded in the underside corners and, when in use, I screw in a set of 10" bolts as legs.

Has anyone done something similar with a grill? - keeping in mind that this one is stainless and made from bar - ie no flat surfaces. Ideas?

Regards

Spliney,

It should be easy enough to weld some nuts to the "underneath" side of the grill. Just a matter of using stainless rods on an arc welder, then you can use similar (stainless) bolts to screw in to the nuts.

Another option, if you didn'[t want to weld the stainless, would be to make up a rectangular frame make out of "angle iron". This could be from mild steel, or stainless steel angle if you wish to match the grill. Then weld the nuts to the underside of the frame and simply drop the grill into the frame.

Gday,
Dont be scared of stainless...
Any thing you can do with mild steel you can do with stainless.
Just use stainless rods or wire.
You CAN weld stainless to mild steel but use a stainlees rod, not the other way around.
