Kiwicol

If you get a decent ADSL2+ service you should then be able to make all of your phone calls using VoIP. We only ever use the standard PSTN service for emergancy or 1300 / 1800 /13 calls. All other calls are VoIP and we are paying 08c / call untimed anywhere in AUstralia and to 30 other countries, and 11c / minute to mobiles. The only other cost is $5 / month for a Sydney based number, but we get rebated 50 calls / month also.

Just a thought as it has saved us between $150 / $200 month in phone calls as I have teenage girls who are constantly ringing their old friends back east, which over a normal phone call would become an expensive proposition from Perth.

Cheers

Hey Kiwicol.

We have 2, mobiles with 10 minute talk time between them for no charge, we have 2, land lines 1, 1300 # and unlimited Broadband with Telstra.

We get 10% discount for having 5 or more connections, $5 phone rental deduction, and other bits and pieces.

Our phone bill is about $700 per month for the season, and $300 on the off season.

We are happy with the service we get.

Cheers Steve.

Try iinet they have good rates and good downolads on their plans.
If you live in an area where they have their own Dslams in the exchange it is lightning fast like 24,000k.
My son has it at Morningside in Brissy and boy is it quick.

Dslams are what makes internet work in a telephone exchange.

IInet also offer voip at about $9 a month and have good rates.

They also offer "naked" Broadband in the above equipped exchanges.

This means you dont pay for a home phone but they give u a connection. Look here

Forgot to mention the following.
Always look to see if the carrier counts uploads as well as downloads as part of your allocation.
Telstra do Iinet dont except on the naked plans. They just cut back the speed till your months end.
