Starting to plan a bit of a trip and first stop could be around Hilston or Ivanhoe.

Any recommendations on camping - we have a camper trailer.

Hope to head to Cameron Corner and above.

Thanks in advance,
Oldman

The old station at Willandra NP.

I don't recall the sites being all that flash, but it was interesting having a look around the homestead and other facilitilies of a former station.

Hi Lyds

I've been through this area a few times either coming or going somewhere and often wondered what the Old Station at Willandra was like; worth a visit?

Its a few years since i've been there but thouroughly enjoyed the visit.Camping area was ok.Going through the old homestead and walks along Willandra Ck were really interesting.
Definately worth a visit, if it is anything like it used to be.
Cheers.

Landy, there's lots of nothing out there, so Willandra makes for a nice change.

Hello Richard,

You're probably after bush camping spots but the caravan park at Hillston is very good.

Here is an extract from a website about Hillston

"Fishing and camping can be pursued along the river and the Carrathool Shire office in Goolgowi puts out a pamphlet outlining the best locations. Also within the area are Wallanthery Weir (north-east), Ballyrogan Weir (north-east)"

so it might pay to contact the office for the pamphlet

Best wishes

We stayed a couple of days at Hillston CP about 2 years ago and it was really good then. I can't believe it has been so long since we were there. I don't know of any change in conditions, but I wouldn't think so.

Willandra is terrific!

Old homestead has been restored and available for accommodation if you need it. Also shearer's quarters.

Camping area is fine and if you have a canoe/kayak, the billabong is usually worth a paddle too.

Nice scenic drive (Merton Motor Trail) best done morning or evening. From memory it's only about 30km long.

Fine for trailers, unless it's wet. Was around there one year in the wet and rang the Ivanhoe Police to ask if we could get across from Hillston. "Yes" he replied, "if you have a helicopter..." He told us we should head for the Hillston Bowling Club and watch the AFL Grand Final instead. Goes without saying my wife didn't believe me!
