Has anyone with a 100series (GXL version) had the back door button be jammed closed from the inside when out and about - has happened on very rough/steep 4WDing where things packed in the back have moved back against the back door/tailgate - the only way of freeing it up is to access from inside the cabin, which is very time consuming with cargo barrier in place and gear in the back (gear is usually packed very tight and neat but will slide back against the button which is not protected).
If it has happened to someone else I would love to know what the solution (cover over the rear internal handle?) might be? - after the first time I used half a normal peg jammed into the lock to keep it open (from being jammed closed) but it recently happened again (on a extremely rough section) and jammed with the peg in - bugger of a thing to fix after a load day.
Thanks

APN,
this had happened to me many times also, with a cargo barrier installed access to the back is imposible.i used to thump chite out of the top
gate and close/open with the remote till it unlocked. i fixed this by removing the little arm from the plastic button to the lock-- no more being locked out.easy to do-about 10 minute job. cheers Paul

I had the same problem with my first 100(1998) a saddle fell against the lock and the cargo barrier made it real hard to get at, so I did as Paul suggested and then did it again to my 05TD

Saw an article a while ago about this.
Apparently a woman got in to a vehicle that had the inner catch disabled. The door shut behind her and as it had the cargo barrier in the rear position she couldnt get out
Badly needed to go to
toilet and when hubby got
home two hours later found a very dirty, smelly and badly stressed wife not to mention the carpet.
Suggest some sort of cover would be more sensible and safer as imagine it happening to a kid on a hot day.

I agree with Graham, a protective cover around the lock would be the way to go. I've seen one on a
forum.............. but do you think I can find it now that I want it??
Cheers,
Wayne.
