Barney.
I hope this doesn't apply aust. wide as our club will have to increase membership fees significantly.
I wonder if it is linked to insurance???
Cheers.

Four Wheel Drive Victoria. Thats right, they are the peak body that represents many 4WD clubs in Victoria. They are the organization that go into bat for our rights to keep on 4x4ing in Victoria. There are many things that they are responsible for including lobbying our politician's to keep tracks open.

Thanks

The increase is just a proposal at the moment still to be agreed on by the member clubs. Association fees are relatively low compared to other sporting or recreation associations & our new CEO is suggesting the increase to fund the additional staff & future programs they have planned.
Current staff costs are actually covered by the government & with no guarantee on the level of funding in the future FWDV are looking for some financial security to ensure the office continues.
Personally the affiliation fees are minute when looking at the whole cost of 4 wheel driving so it certainly doesn't bother me particually seeing how our association is keeping track access open in Victoria. I bet NSW 4 wheel drivers would pay $50 a year if they could get all their tracks open again that were closed back in the 80's ;-)

I think FWDV is pricing itself out of the market Craig. I've been a member of 4wd clubs since 1989 and it was always an internal argument within the clubs when it came to paying the affiliation fees especially when the fees were increased.
I think it's got to the stage where the clubs are questioning whether affiliation with the FWDV is even relevant any more and I think that more clubs (especially the larger ones) will simply go their own way like the Landcruiser club did some years ago.
Regards Andrew.

It's often a difficult sell trying to get members to accept fees like this as the benefits are certainly difficult to quantify & if one is not directly involved with the association many may even say they do nothing for them. Possibly a more modest increase would be appropiate in these times of high fuel prices.
Cheers Craig.......
