Rain in Simpson - Has there been any in the last week?

You could hardly do better than phone Mt Dare Homestead / Hotel on the western edge of the SD - they have all the good oil and are happy to share it - I was talking to a VKS member up there last night on HF and they were getting a good drubbing.

Don't know how your getting from Bourke to Birdsville but in Broken Hill we have had over 2 inches of rain and its still raining and more expected this week. All the roads north of here are currently closed.

Not sure how far north the rain has got. If it stops raining by the end of this week you will probably be alright unless we get a heap more but it would pay to keep a close eye on the road conditions report on this website right up till you head off.

As much as we need rain it can destroy a well planned holiday. I hope it fines up for you mate.

Just speaking to a party at Poepells Cnr (on HF)- has been raining- salt/clay pans slippery- Eyre Ck has water in it...
Mt Dare end hasn't had any yet (from David Olsen- also on HF- currently at Mt Dare)..

Birdsville apparently had 64mm today & by the look of the weather chart, more is on the way.

We are going up the Hay River leaving B/villle on Tuesday 1 July. Happy for rain but hope it's not to extreme beforehand!!

HI All, Birdsville has had 80 mm up to the last half hour - every road closed and still drizzling with intermittent heavy showers and thunder. Forecast is rainy Monday, Fog Tuesday, Sunny Wednesday and showers Thursday and Friday.
