TV Reception?

Can anyone help regards a decent van TV aerial?
I was told a boostered 'Mini Compact Stubby' from SA was the way to go. Since then a lot of conflicting advice.
Cheers

Howdy Seakarvan, We asked the same question not that long ago and received a lot of good advise from this site. See thread # 56196.
Our previous van had the wind up Wingard as mentioned above & it is an excellent aerial & easy to set up. But...... it was going to cost us about $1000.00 to have a similar unit retro fitted to our newer van.We "decided" ( not enough money!!) not to go that way.
We purchased a Jebsee, active colour model # DAE -101CSE from Jaycar, as recommended by one of the responses in above mentioned thread. Cost the princely sum of about $60 or $70
and we are very happy with it. Quick & easy to set up, compact in design & performs very well. Cheers

G`day Seakarvan,
After trying 3 different antennas over several trips the 4th was the only one that would get decent reception at one of my way out of town camping spots.
Oh, Its Brand ? " Happy Wanderer DX Active Zone"
It folds up small enough to fit in a 45 ltr under the bed storage box.
Think the price is about $230 which is equivalent to what I wasted on the first three cheaper type.

No connection to this mob just a very happy customer.

Good luck,

Scrubcat.

The DX Active Zone antenna is half the price of the Wineguard but much better. It has the same performance as the Explorer antennas but stores in a more compact space.

Hi, excuse my arogance but why do travelers need TV's ? We are in the middle of a 6 month trek & have watched TV about 3 times (only because of visiting friends). Surely there is more substantial things to do than watch the idiot box.
I'm a Life Coach & recommending people watch TV is the last thing on my list.
Just one mans opinion lol

Seakarvan, We have the happy wanderer that someone else has already mentioned and have been happy with it!

Sorry Jason, but whilst preparing the evening meal we like to see the news and the weather and then there are the occasions when we are lazy and watch a movie, I don't believer anyone ever said when out touring we can't have the luxuries of home! Isn't that why some have shower's and toilet's - do you object to people having them too?

Hi Debbie, No - I'm all for a bit of luxury, just believe the TV needs to answer for a lot of the problems with the youth of today. I know i'm generalizing so don't shoot me down - LOL
I guess my comment was directed at the people who just can' get by without a TV - Sad existence I think
Sorry if I offended anyone
Cheers
