I have experienced the same problem as member P.P of Sydney
( POSTED 28th may ).
My new 200 SERIES TTD stalled when turning into a shopping centre ,also 3 times. This happened on Monday morning 5 days after I picked it up from the dealer. It has travelled 381 km.
I started it in my driveway and let it idle for a couple of minutes before driving it 1 km to the shopping centre when I had these problems.
I took it to my dealer and explained what happened.I also told them about P.S and his experience.
At first their computers couldn't find any faults. They kept my vehicle overnight and tested it the next morning when the engine was cold. Their computer showed a problem and they decided to replace the fuel injector pump. When the dealer ordered a new pump from Toyota,Toyota asked if the vehicle could be returned to Toyota HQ in Altona for inspection..Two engineers are flying out from Japan and will have a look at it on Monday.I suspect we are not the only ones having problems.
I will post the results when i get them .

There are quite a few people having this problem.
A mate of mine is high up in Toyota and rang me the other day to warn me of this. Apparently it is a growing concern.

I have the same issue with Stalling and seems only to occur in the mornings and have a meeting on Monday with my dealer.

I have had it happen at around 80kms p/hr with foot of the loud pedal coasting down a hill.

There is also a possible recall regarding a loud clunk in the tail shaft.

We had a fella here tonight whose petrol 200 series is a couple of weeks old and he has a loud clunk when taking off from standstill.

Toyota are having a new part made to fix the problem and will call him in when it's available. They told him they have many complaints about the same thing.

Mate he was just here for a fleeting moment and I'll probably never meet him again. I get the feeling he got right up 'em about it.

We have one with the same problem. Toyos fix at the moment is just to pack it full of grease.
Maybe a better fix on the way not sure.

Read Post 58783 ref another problem ! The old 60 Dieso still just keeps battling on & is reliable as ever. Oh ! what a feeling. I just hope Toyota is not trying to match Nissan with another hand grenade.

From what has been said above they appear to realise something is not right and also appear to be interested in fixing the issue??
No one has suggested they are ducking and denying it.

A good friend has had this problem. For memory, he had to leave his wagon with the dealer for a couple of weeks while they sent the part off to be looked at.

I think my bro-in-law has had the same issue, though the delay was down to 5 days by the time he got to taking his wagon to be fixed (in Mildura).

From what I can make out it is too much clearance between splines in the rear driveshaft that causes the clunks. One fix that didnt work was to pump grease in then jump up and down on the towbar to expel any air. Lasts till you get home I believe.

I asked my bro-in-law about the fuel issue last night.

Apparently a spring needs replacing in the fuel pump. According to toyota, the quality of diesel in oz is not quite what it is in europe, and the new engines need some adjustment.
