Innamincka fishing bait.
Worms for bait I mean, those fisher people that are going to
Innamincka, what , if anything , are you taking for bait ?.
Shrimp are arguably the best Yella bait but are they still available in the
Cooper Creek during winter?. They usually disappear in the Murray once the cold weather arrives.
Are bait size Yabbies able to be caught ?. Or any yabbies for that matter ?.
Are Worms any good as bait there ?.
I have never been to the
Cooper Creek so if anyone has, AND caught fish, what about telling this " New Chum" what is required ?. I promise I wont tell any other Fishing Competition entrants, promise. LOL

"Expanding bait"...get the terminology right Kev.
Square hooks work
well too, prolly better than the expanding bait.

We were up there in April, and caught a couple of foot long perch using bacon scraps.
Got plenty of bites and two keepers in half an hour.
Cheers

My theory is, if you cant catch shrimp to use for bait, the Callop probably wont be "on the bite" anyway.
Last time I tried fishing (at
Cullyamurra Waterhole in September one year) the turtles took the bait before any fish could.
The best form at Cullyamurra is to jig for the fish with a lure, but of course you need a boat for that.
P.S. I'm not bringing the boat this trip. In fact, I'm not sure I'll even bother fishing at all, with a "cast of thousands" tossing every conceivable piece of apparatus into the Cooper, during the fishing competition.
Think I'll just chill out:-)
Bill.
