This trip is the proposed return trip from
Neale Junction where we will install
toilets and a
water supply.Project organized by TCWA & DEC Kalgoorlie .
TCWA has many 4x4 Clubs as its members.

We did this a year ago the other way about and the track from the
Plumridge Lakes NR west is quite
well used from about 50 or 60km west of the Cable Haul Rd
junction to the turnoff to Officer Basin as it forms the access to the Tropicana gold deposit being developed by Anglo Gold Ashanti. So that is the quick way to go (ie along their access to Pinjin) but if you insist on going via Lake Minigwal, it will be a very slow trip. We were all day getting the 162 km from Kirgella Rocks (15-odd km E Pinjin) to about 5 km E of the BM GN9 point on the Hema SW map (about 120 km W of
Plumridge Lakes). The track was for the most part very overgrown and there was lots of 1st gear stuff.
It was however great country to drive through.
From Pinjin to
Kookynie you're on formed and graded shire roads that are ok if not a bit corrugated at times. There hasn't been much rain to speak of in the last few months so they should be alright.
From
Plumridge lakes south the track was just that but it was alright for a bush track without being too chopped about. I think we were able to tootle along at 30 - 50 km/hr for the most part until we reached the
dog fence and then it was top gear stuff.
The Trans Access road is pretty good at the moment.
Hope this helps, Paul B Kal
