Hi
We are heading next month for a week from
perth and part of the trip is around the
menzies,
kookynie, Kalgoorlie area. I have planned to through, niagara, orabanda, broad arrow,
rowles lagoon etc.
Is there any other out of the way spots that any one recommend as being worthwhile.
Alan

Get hold of a copy of 'Golden Quest Discovery Trail Guide Book its 965km trip that covers all those areas, it also has two CD's with it. You wil get trip notes and intersting info about the various sites. IMHO
well worth it.

After
Rowles Lagoon have a look at Ularring Soak(
rock).
Top little spot for a night's stay.

G'day Alan,
it is a beaut spot, nice and quiet too. You can find it on google maps
here
or you could use the "Places" facility on this site (top of the screen menu) although I cannot confirm the coordinates are correct.
just head out to
Mulline from
Menzies, or
Davyhurst.

When at
Kookynie ask about the mudmap to the rocks -
hanging rock,
split rock, balancing rock.
If on the other side of the highway on the Daveyhurst/
ora banda road check out
the breakaways on te Nthn end of Lake Wangine between Daveyhurst and
Ora Banda.
Took the Sister and BIL there which they enjoyed

Alan,
Ularring is nice but way too popular these days. Road is busy with trucks too.
Try
Trough Well. See
Places on EO.
Peaceful, interesting, plus you are likely to have it to yourself.
Mt Jackson Rd ends up swinging NE to
Menzies, then short run to
Kookynie (which you definitely will not have to your self unfortunately).

Agree with all, and don't forget to take some yabbie nets. The dams out around
Ora Banda to
Davyhurst nearly all have yabbies at the moment.
