Gooday,
I realise we may be in a minority but that's our choice.
Just wanted to let others know after an almost 2 year search for a supplier for a Roo/Bull Bar for our 2006 Commander CRD located one and have had it fitted, thanks in no small part from Bomber (Graham) of JeepCommander Forum. If it had that funny "T" logo on the bonnet I could have had one off the shelf, however LOVE my JEEP.
There is a mob in Brisbane making them, Air Bag Compliant and really good product.
Anybody wanting more info please contact me on my profile address, have no connection with the makers but do not wish to upset anybody else who supplies this gear.

Also for anybody in Brisbane, was in Aussie Traveller a couple of days ago for something else and they had SOG (Smell Orl Gone), chemical toilet No chemical venting systems at reduced prices. Apparently there is a new model Thetford being fitted to most new Caravans etc, so selling A, B, & D models for $250-00 each, big reduction, I bought one at 2007 C/van show & really had to battle to et it for $275-00 when they were packing up. Easy to fit.

Also they are now selling Hyundai Portable Generators. Clone for Honda, I., 2.7, & 3.3 KVA Inverter, all 58Dba & look like a great piece of gear, worth a look if you are in the market, competitive price.

Also had a few Stabiliser feet approx 6 Inches square, moulded plastic easy fit, well worth a look at for approx $10 for four.
No connection with this supplier either, just wanted to repay some good info I get from thie great site.
Cheers,
Boroma604.

G'day Boroma,

I know your Jeep is only 2 years old and therefore you shouldn't have experienced too much trouble to date but I just wanted to know whether you have done much travelling yet?

I'm considering changing my car over to a Jeep Commander but have been told that should you have any problems on the road it is difficult getting parts and therefore could be too much trouble and to stick with the more common brand of either a toyota or nissan.

Have you experienced this or heard from other Jeep owners?

What sort of economy are you getting out of your Jeep when towing?

Looking forward to your responses.

Cheers

I have a 2001 WJ 4.7 Grand Cherokee Limited from new $20 k cheaper than equiv Cruiser and have lived in Broome for 2 years and Gove for 3 years. Toyota (any dealer/ Mechanic) worth their salt can service repair these vehicles as all are as complicated as the other nowdays and the computer tells them what is wrong. In out of the way places they will not carry many parts and will have to fly them in regardless. It is a Jeep thing and I didn't want to drive what every other Tom, Dick and Harry had, besides I liked the look and size of the vehicle, love the V8 has one of the best 4x4 drive systems available (Quadra Drive).

Just my 2 bobs

Goday,
First to the shortest question, no it is our 5th JEEP since 1999. First one was a 1997, had done only 12000Km when we bought it, turns out had caught fire under the bonnet, lengthy stand off between first owner Insurance & Jeep, Owner had somebody fit Spotlights, & there was a fight because Jeep Dealer didn't do it & blamed this for BBq. Was finally written off & re-birthed, we were only able to get hold of original owner after we had bought it & then contacted Jeep as it was supposedly still had some warranty on it, which Jeep said NO! NO!. Had couple of minor problems from the BBq, 1 power steering hose leak as they had not been swaged, soon fixed, secondly fins on A/C unit were mostly closed up so replaced that, no other problems.
Traded it at 30,000Km on a new Grand Laredo 6 cyl in 2001, did 31000Km in 9 mths in that, traded it then on a 2002 V8 Limited Grand as we had updated Caravan & wanted more grunt. Fabulous vehicle nothing beyond mandatory services, tyres at 68,000Km at 71,000Km traded that on a Grand, Ltd, WG 5 Cyl Diesel. Far more grunt than the V8 for towing, fabulous car, slight hesitation with Turbo from still or very low speed, soon learnt to live with that, just over 70,000Km, mostly towing when we traded it on The Commander V6 CRD Limited, 2 years ago tomorrow.
Again new tyres just before we traded the WG .

Just about to roll on to 40,000 Km. Economy a little disappointing, average approx 14-15 Km per litre on highway no tow, only done a few runs like that, 13-14 KM per L around city, towing 21 ft Caravan all up 3 tonnes, average 15-17 L per 100km at 80-90Km Hr max, mostly between Bne & Sydney, and to Nth Qld & back & a fair bit in from the coast too.. Half it's work at least has been with the caravan in tow.
Not had ONE PROBLEM, comes with 24 hour roadside service anyway, as said earlier even if you Have the BIG "T" or the similar Neesan, they won't have everything you need.
Spoke to a bloke in Longreach a couple of years ago, told me a workshop there had a fairly new one they could not get going after almost 2 days on the phone to Technical in Melb, Jeep loaded it on a Tilt tray & sent it to Townsville, at their expense.

Many say they are a copy of a Hummer & look ugly, I didn't buy it to sit & look at it. Also have a look at all Jeeps since 1948 when the first Wagoneer came out and what shape are they ?.

The only regret I have is that they don't have the magic "T"on the front when trading them, feel they are grossly under-rated.

Like this one so much took out extra 2 years factory warranty for about $1500-00.
Hope this answers some of your questions.
Cheers,
Boroma 604.
