Have had conflicting information about the
Gibb River Road. Has anyone travelled on this lately? Any information would be appreciated as we will be leaving
Cape Leveque on Saturday morning for
Derby and the GRR. Thanks in advance

Security is mostly a superstition. It doesnt exist in nature. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.

If you're leaving
Cape Leveque then heading on to
Derby, look into the Coloured Stone track - it's the back way between
Beagle Bay and
Derby. The track is about 120km through a private station - it's shown on the Hema maps, but the turnoff is not marked at either end.
The track is mostly sandy, and there's bugger all to see along the way, but trust me, it's a hell of a lot better going the long way around back to Brrome including the 90km of corrugations between
Beagle Bay and
Broome!

Broome to
Cape Leveque road is a hell of a lot worse than the GRR. GRR is like a highway compared to Cp Leveque. Trust me.

Hayjude,
We have travelled on both the
Cape Leveque Road and the full length of the GRR in the past 5 weeks and can confirm the other post that the
Cape Leveque Road is worse than the GRR. Drop your tyre pressures a little and take it easy and you will not have any problems.
Enjoy your trip.
