I just got an email from Brian - I've been out at the racetrack all weekend (and the Hall) cooking for the Gymkhana - horses on Saturday and bikes Sunday - great band and dinner at the Hall Sat night. I'm going to meet Brian for a coffee on Thursday when they get back from their round trip into the Simpson. About lunchtime today - a westerly blew in (dust and all) so he'll wonder what struck him when he gets out into the dunes. Ha ha - serves him right! Lucky for him it's only supposed to last 24 hours and back to freezing cold again. Bet he gets a frost on Wednesday a.m. - at least the days have been beautiful - sunny and no wind (until today).

Signman, the camel guys are going the other way - heading to Alice. I missed Macca this week because I was out at the racetrack. The Head Camel Man is gorgeous -
Andrew Harper - looks like James Blundell. You might remember that he featured in Outback when he trekked across Australia - very nice photo of him nikkety having a tub in a
bore drain. Yum yum. He loves me becuase I make him Chocolate Fudge Cake - I'd do ANYTHING for him.
Footsie, looking forward to meeting them all.
Dasher Des - I have already met you! Wasn't that you and your son in the Hilux? Or was that one of my other boyfriends? Hey, a gorgeous (Younger) guy wanted to take me home (river) on Saturday night - and I couldn't get my wedding ring off my finger - blast - best offer I've had for ages, it was really exciting. And he wasn't even blind drunk!

Geez Ruth, hold up a minute there gel.
Young men in the nick,
young blokes throwing you a line ?
Fair suck of the sav, now I'm starting to feel crook !
I've had enough experiences out there to know that a man can get pretty...umm..lonely...even when sober.
And a female can kinda stand out as being "you know, one of those chaps with lumps on their shoulders".
I suppose you weren't actively seeking the "gentleman's" attention, were you ? You did say that HE was sober LOL
Oh what the heck ! Go girl :)))))))

Hi Ruth,
we'll be interested in hearing what Brian has to say, as we are hoping to do a
Simpson desert crossing in the next week or so, depending on what the conditions are like.
Regards, Annette

Don't worry Footsie, I came
home to the old fella (but I was tempted!)
Hi Annette, you will have a great time - the boys must be old enough now to do the driving bit (!?!). Weather's good.

The winds blew in all right! But didn't stop us from having a great time! We camped just 2 nights out on the desert, one where the Inside and Outside Track meet, not stictly desert but close! and then next at the top of the K1 where it meets the French Line..... stunning!! I could never have imagined the desert would look so starkly beautiful!
Well worth the drive to get here!
Cheers

Good on me !
We love it up there..
Lyn ( SWMOB ) spun out when we got up
Big Red, first go ...
We watched everyone else bugger up, for about 1 hr, then showed them how easy it was..
But that's about tyre pressure, and just a little momentum..
Gotta be safe too..
Enjoy yourself.
Cheers

Should have mentioned the Working Museum..
What a great place to visit.
Dunno if it has sold, in the last 2 years, but that bloke is one of a kind, and his Mrs is a Gem..
Gotta love it..
Cheers

Bucky, it is fantastic isn't it. John is an item in his own museum - Judy his wife was busy helping me
cook Sat night! No, it hasn't sold - and I hope they never sell it because it wouldn't be the same without John and Judy there.

Ruth
Too True
They are an absolute credit.
By the way, Windy Wonthaggi, is living up to it's reputation... Horizontal rain, gale force winds, gusting up to 100 + km/h and as
cold as,,,,, but you get that on the edge of Bass Straight
The
weather is going off down here at the moment
But it's winter. !
Cheers

Bucky,
Made it up to the top of
Big Red first go!!!! In fact on my second go, while the video was running, I didn't pay it enough respect and came to a halt not quite at the top, had to reverse back down and have another turn! But got there every time after that, including coming back into town off the QAA line late yesterday with our camping gear etc loaded up, went straight to the top!
You're 100% right Bucky....tyre pressures and ENOUGH, not tooooo much momentum.
Cheers

Oh bugger, and we've just sold our campertrailer so it'll be black wolf down by the billabong next time, but then, think of the freedom of nothing to tow. My regards to the flies there - I have met them all personally and know their names.
cheers
