Has anyone recently driven over it? Just wondering about creek crossings - not yet having done one. By the end of that, I will have done several. Are the rivers low or high?

Thanks,Corio. I'll give them a tingle. Am at Katherine and deciding whether to do GRR now or later. One of life's little cross roads.

Ioris

I travelled the full length of the GRR four weeks ago. There are no problems with the crossings. The Pentecost River crossing was about 400mm deep - the others less. The road is generally OK.

Finished the Gibb from Derby to Kunnanurra yesterday ,, no "real " crossings to worry about depth wise , just that some sneak up on you especialy on some of the turn offs such as to Drysdale and Mornington.

Hi loris

We have just spent three weeks there, including Mitchell Falls and Kalumburu. Roads mostly pretty good, graders working on most.Water levels reducing.King Edward River on the way to Mitchell Falls was the deepest crossing, but not a problem. Even a few regular caravans went across. Road from there to Mitchell Falls was corrugated, but we left the van at the King Edward River camp and did it in a day trip. We planned to camp at Mitchell Falls overnight, but had enough daylight to get 'home' again. Road to Kalumburu is stony and needs to be taken slowly. Fabulous region.

PS do it sooner than later - peak traffic in July and people driving to fast bring the corrugations up quickly. Also levels of water in the falls reduse as the dry continues. These are two reasons why we chose to trafel here in June.

Happy travels
