Reasonably easy run.
usual not too much to see for kilometres, then some interesting
places.
Took two weeks, but we have been to
St George and Cunamulla a few times before, so we didn't really start until at Cunamulla. Did Brisy to Cunamulla first day. Same coming back, once we got to
Charleville headed home next day.
So if you havn't been west of
St George or
Roma too much allow at least three weeks. Also depends if you are travelling with children.

I have done similar trips and most of the roads.
The gravel roads in the area are usually in reasonable repair. From
Innamincka you have to get to
Birdsville via
Cordillo Downs as
Walkers Crossing track is closed due to
water over the road.
It is about a 6 day run if you were driving all of the time
I would rate it a 1 out of 10
Cheers

Dingo
1=easy run
About 75%(estimate) is bitumen, Queensland style. Some roads are good and some are not :-)
The road from
Innamincka to
Birdsville via
Cordillo Downs could be a tad corrugated.
Birdsville to the Diamantina Development road is normally good with a fair amount of gibber but an easy run at that.
Cheers

Any trip that ends up in GYMPIE would rate in my book as being a trip to HELL...Gympie in my estimation is at the end of the earth ...its the absolute pit of a place, has nothing to offer in the way of civilised living except that the new Woolie's opened up there ..
camping sites are non existent and the ones that are there are filthy, and the owners are in another world ..yes u guessed it ..third world..
Maybe ...no ..i won't..suggest what would be best for the place ..

I stopped at Gympie last year at the caravan
park because I had to wait for fuel. Did not see a problem with the
park,
camp oven roast dinner and entertainment was good would stay again.
If you need fuel check the times available, somewhat different, and be prepared to join the queue if first thing in the morning

I was up that way in May. I went up to
Birdsville via Hadon's Corner rather the
Cordillo Downs. Good smooth roads all the way.
