Cape York Connections
We have just finished 20 days in the cape all was good the people with me were a great bunch.
The main roads were good.
the otl was the same as usual.
Had to pull three people out off bogs. They weren't with me they just got to a crossing and drove through it they didn't bother to check the crossing.
One fellow said can I pull him out soon because he was in a hurry.
I finished my cuppa then pulled him out then he raced of ready for his next disaster.
All the best
Eric

Loved the cape when I was there last, will go back and take a bit longer (in time).
That fella was a bit rude, would hope he said at least a thanks or he would have had a damn side longer wait the next time.
Glad you had a good time.
Brian

Yes great place and lots of sights and there is no use being rude is there? I worked on the roads up there for 5 years, I was always the one in a hurry, so did not get to do that cupper thing by the
creek very often, should have. Maybee most are like us at the moment, want to see it all but still 15 years from retirement to do it casual style. Try to do as much as you can in as little time as you can. Who knows may be dead before we retire! Time should slow us down to a more resonable pace. 2 sleeps before a six week cruise accross oz. Cheers Tony

Eric,
The OT is one of my great memories.
Good drive. Yep, met the ones in a hurry to get nowhere too on the OT.
Some beautiful creeks, and each one is so different. Each one is a good chance to get out and stretch the legs, and see how others tackle it. The kids used to play in the
water sometimes, we used to have some good splashing competitions.
That was in the days we used to drive the
Jardine too.
Makes you wonder about people. But then they only have two weeks, one week each way! If you told them it only took one weeks to drive
Sydney to
Cairns, and see everything, they would think you are crazy. About the same driving time by my reckoning as
Cairns to
the tip, with a couple of detours.

Good to see you get the priorities right there Eric..
Gotta have a cuppa first- before making any important decisions !!!

Hi Eric,
I am on my way to the cape on July 22nd with my father and cousin from Germany.
Can you give it to me straight. Should the
creek crossings be walked first given the crock danger?
Everything I have read says yes, but there is never a crock warning with it. You see the crock warnings scattered around other pages but not linked together.
I get the feeling the author is deliberately treading a fine line to not say the wrong thing.
If you have any other advice to a cape virgin it would be appreciated also.
Marco

Marco on the otl I walk the crossings ever year they do change.
Nolan's brook gets people undone it looks shallow.
If you have a walk you will find the shallow side.
Canal is also a bit tricky if you don't have a look there are 2 ways around this one.
Also same goes for Cockatoo get out and get wet.
All the best
Eric
