From the same article

"The man's death brings this year's Northern Territory road toll to 35, compared with 23 for the same period last year"

Doing real well in the NT - not !!!

Gramps,
Thats with their lower speed limits and removal of the unrestricted speed sections to kurb such accidents and reduce the road toll, just imagine what the road toll would have been had they not done that!!!!

News like this is never a good thing.

Why assume they were speeding? or is that your tounge in your cheek sticking out?

Speeding and troopy can those 2 words be applied in the same sentence?

Werent the new speed limits going to lower the road toll?

The possible causes to any accident are many and varied, no point in speculating until all the facts are in and the report is before the coroner.

Lowering speed limits only works if the new speed limits are enforced. Unfortunately the police in the NT are understaffed and overworked.

Laws only make a difference if people obey them.

While extremely tragic, I do hope it's isn't any tour operators we know from this site involved?

It will spark a new round of witch hunting however, and that will possibly have an impact on ALL tour operators, good bad or ugly!!!

The operator was a backpacker tour operator from Darwin, I won't mention there name.

I will ask that people not speculate as to what happened, the rumours are already running rife through the media and the Kakadu grape vine.

Cheers Steve.

If there was nothing 'sus' regarding this collision then 'what's the problem'? People will continue to speculate until the truth (facts) are released.

From a Press Report ( Link)....'The (Darwin) hospital's general manager, Len Notaras, says a tyre blow out probably caused the crash, and it is unlikely the dead man was wearing a seatbelt as he was thrown from the vehicle.'

I've nearly rolled a Troopie twice, when those split rims go flat, and we were just quietly cruising at 100kph.

Steve,
I know this is a touchy subject for you, but DIO just quoted an ABC news report, and provided the link. Perhaps you could redirect your anger towards the Hospital General Manager.

Crikey Steve, that's more than a bit harsh. Particularly as DIO was quoting a press report.

Pull your head in mate. You're getting pretty good at blowing your top at people on this forum.

Why does Exploroz continue to allow repeat offenders (and in this case an advertiser) to use offensive language on here?
Why don't you stop annoying us Steve and give it a rest.

Merely observation on the vehicle type, not intended as comment on this particular incident which I have no knowledge of other than what I read in the linked articles.

I still can't work out how they managed to sell the troopy with the midline facing bench seats in Australia for as long as they have.

Great for transport at low speeds in mines and in other low speed environments. But highways?

The crash dynamics are scary.
