We're new at this game, and are planning a trip around Aust in our 2004 Pajero, towing a 1400kg pop top caravan. Can anyone suggest a reliable tyre and psi for different road conditions. Our first trip is from
Sydney to
Perth?

Any good quality radial light truck tyre. Check with the tyre re-seller for specific tyre pressure for you application. Manufacturer always included maximum pressures on sidewall of tyre. On stony roads reduce pressure to around 20 psi. Don't forget to re-inflate before resuming higher speeds.

maxxis do a light truck tyre with an off road tread pattern, not sure what the load rating is on them though, worth searching the net for a dealer and asking them.

What they say, plus if possible get the same size and type as your Pajero so you double up on spares. If possible also check to see if you can get the same size / type
wheels as the pajero.
Things to watch in the
wheels are diameter, stud pattern and offset. You may not be able to match the Pajero
wheels on the caravan, but if the tyres are the same size you are half way thre and can get them swapped over on the rims.
