Morning all
Can anyone recommendation a good gas light, the type to screw onto the top of a gas bottle. The old one I have at the moment gives very little light, I've replaced the jet and mantle but it's very poor. I've seen others that give a good bright light, just looking for recomendations.
Thanks Jon

Hey Davoe - does the Versa Light come with a stand or similar to make it free standing? I'm still looking for a good 12 volt free standing light after going through two Coleman Retros in 6 months.Thanks. Oz doc.

goodday guys
on the trip to innamincka we bought a small gas light in broken hill it screws onto a throw away bottle and comes with an adaptor to screw to a normal bottle not sure of the brand though as its not with us
we were using 2 rechargeable led lights and they bwere useless when needing a decent light for cooking but were ok in the tent for getting dressed
i will post the brand when we return home

Jon,

"Good gas light" is a bit of an oxymoron statement mate.

They give good light but when several mantles kept breaking after travelling over corrugated tracks, I chucked mine in the back of the shed and bought a Versa-Lite fluro. It consumes about one amp per hour.

If you need the extra output of a "gas light" style lamp, perhaps a Coleman dual fuel lantern would be a better proposition.

Bill.

I have an old Primus light, inherited from the oldies. It must be 35 years old I reckon and still works a treat. I'd recommend that you change the mantle fairly often, even if its not broken. I bought an extension tube to get the light up to a reasonable height. But agree with others, if you have power available, use a leccie one. We always carry a short fluro and a light for inside the tent.
