hi all,
do you have to remove air cleaner an replace it with a snorkel as to fit second battery in a nm pajero. or do most have the second battery in the rear. it is a petrol 3.5 2001 model if it is any different to the diesel. it will be a 120 amh battery . cheers,
Peter

Sleepy1

I had a 2002 NM Paj and the second battery went on the lefthand side next to the firewall. Can't remember the size of the battery.
It was a tight fit only had to move aircon pipe and that was just force it sideways a little. The battery kit came from OL I think.

Cheers Scoof.. :-)

Hi Sleepy

I think you will only get a 10 inch battery in there. I would recommend fitting the 120 a/h AGM to the existing battery tray and making the new aux the cranker.

Derek.

My perception is you won't fit a 120Ah battery in the engine bay.
A 120Ah capacity battery would almost certainly equate to an AGM battery and one in the size you suggest is a big, heavy sucker.

Not only would the size be prohibitive, but the weight of the battery would be too much of a strain on the mounting points in a short period of time.

My suggestion is to physically inspect a 120Ah battery first. Check the weight of it and then the "footprint" (length, width and height) to see if it will fit in a cradle for the area you wish to mount it. The width is fairly standard but the length would be longer than would fit in most cradles and the height may result in the need for a cutout (hole) in the bonnet to allow clearance.

The simplest solution if you really need a battery of this capacity is to mount it in a battery case in the back of the paj.

Bill.
