Just went past the local serve. Petrol has dropped to $1.45. As usual - diesel is unchanged. Still $1.75. Bloody stinking rotten thieving mongrel bastards.

Deserter,
LOL when the demand for diesel comes close to the demand for petrol MAYBE there won't be such a difference in price.

I caught a statistic on the ABC the other night. China uses more diesel a day than Australia does in a year !!!

Yeah, saw the same show. The frightening part is that their demand is still growing and then you have to add India's as
well.

All of China's new electricity power generators are all diesel powered and as with most things to do with China they outstrip supplies.
This is only going to get worse in the near future a China increases there need for electricity.
In Europe in the early 1990's 2 in 10 cars were diesel now it is 7 cars in 10.
If you had 1000 widgets for sale and the going price for each widget was $10.00 and I needed 1500 widgets for my thingamajig so I could make money and I offered you $15.00 for each of your widgets so I could secure stock.....who would you sell your widgets to and what is the going price for people who only want 10 of your widgets.
So who are these "Bloody stinking rotten thieving mongrel bastards" your talking about ?
If we all started eating oranges I'm sure the price of oranges would skyrocket to.
Regards Richard

.....'All of China's new electricity power generators are all diesel powered and as with most things to do with China they outstrip supplies.'
Obviously with the exception of the recently completed Three Gorges Project. The largest Hydro Electric Project in the world and will when fully completed be capabale of generating 22,500 megawatts. As a comparison Victorian demand ranges from 3800 MWe to 8800 MWe, and that in NSW from 4800 to 13,000 MWe.
Without a doubt, for Australia, nuclear is the way to go for power generation in the future.

74% of China's power comes from thermal energy, nearly 21% from hydro and about 1.6% from nuclear.
China's power consumption is growing by about 20% per year.

Where do you live I'm moving there.
Every one around my way was still selling unleaded between 1.58 and 1.68 and diesel was still 1.82 to 1.89 but i'm sure one of the die hards can give a reasonable explanation for this blatant rip off.

I am with you. $1.75 sounds cheap compared to WA. Then again we have fuel watch to help keep it up.

Hi raybrandt, we make a point of never buying anything at Nannutarra. They seem to be extremely high with everything, I don't mind paying a fair price for anything we get but I don't like being ripped off!!!!!!!!!
Cheers

Deserter,
Get used to it mate. Huge global demand for diesel and other mid distallates like kerosene for AVTUR, coupled with reduction in refineing capacity for these fuels is going to see prices stay high relative to petrol.

lol wife says the same thing, of course you still have to find the $$$ to pay now and you have to wait 12 months to get refund (maybe) or less of a tax bill.
Still life moves on and the thieves come as
well no discrimination :) :).

Sorry to play top this but the local servo in Lugarno (
Sydney) had petrol on Tuesday at $1.52/l and Diesel at $1.97/l
For those struggling with the maths that's a 45c/l difference. Now that is a rip off. I remember when diesel was 15c/l cheaper than petrol.

Spotted this afternoon (Saturday, 26 July) in the northern suburbs of
Adelaide, unleaded at 149.9 out of the pump.
Diesel was still 183.9.
There must be some REALLY annoyed 4wd'ers, transport drivers, and European diesel car drivers out there. I think it's damn disgusting that diesel hadn't come down in price at the same time as petrol.
