You beat me to it, I have been trying to open it but couldn't, I thought I might have missed something so was doing a search on here to see if I had.
Will be interested to know if someone can enlighten me.
Cheers

Seems to be a problem with
the Spot website as I have just purchased one and my test tracking page has not been working all day today. Hopefully it will be up tomorrow.

Still no good today. This serves to illustrate the point that it is advisable to carry a backup, alternate form of comms when traveling in a totally remote location like this.
A sat phone you rent but don't use is better than not having comms at all.

Just tried it again and still not up, I think we will stick with the Sat phone for a while, at least at the worst we got some sort of coverage in 24hrs. Will wait for improvement with
the Spot Messenger.

The web tracking function is just off-line.
Spot is still working on the main functions. It still will send emails and text messages to the nomianted individuals when the OK button or HELP button is pressed. The 911/000 function also works.
For those interested we only see KiwiAnglers last 2 days of tracking however as an owner you get the last 30 days and can export the messages to a spreadsheet as a detail of your trip.

Sorry gang. I should have mentioned earlier that the when you log into the owners section the Shared Paged tab states it is in Beta form and requests feedback.
I have just logged in and viewed my own tracking positions on Google maps and it shows
all places I travelled today.

so at least some functions are working still...
if KiwiAngler has a designated person to report to or if you are an owner they should be able to see, whereas we who are just looking in are left out because of this malfunction?

No, all paid for functions are still working and there is no malfunction.
The web page you have been viewing is a new and additional feature of
the Spot system - it has only recently come on line and is still in a beta testing stage.
People on KiwiAngler's list are still receiving messages from him and if he sends an emergency call it will be dealt with in the normal manner.

SPOT on Wayne.. LOL
Yes I have logged in and checked my tracking for today and also sent and received some test OK messages and some test HELP messages without any problems.
You set up your contacts and message via your log-in so when you push the OK button it sends an email and/or text message. I have set up the OK button to send a message that reads 'This is a SPOT check-in. We are fine and at this location tonight (Spot send the coordinates with the message). We would only send this to immediate family for reassurance. If they wish, your friends just click on the coordinates in the email and it takes them to the location on Google maps.
The HELP button (for non life threatening situations) sends an email and/or text message with cooridinates to two nominated people requesting Help with your exact coordinates.
The messages email/text message costs are included in the annual fee.
Cheers

Geez how dumb am I...... DOH! I have one of these little SPOT creatures and have also been following KiwiAngler closely. I finally realised that at the botom of the multiple 10 minute tags is a selection to view pages. I managed to go to view the last page which took me back on the last 7 days on his trip.
Cheers
