Mr Pointyhead
Petrol stations are short-changing diesel users by more than 10 cents a litre, Queensland's motoring club RACQ says.
The RACQ said refinery prices for diesel had dropped about 15 cents a litre in the past three weeks, but average retail prices had dipped by less than five cents.
RACQ general manager Gary Fites said wholesale diesel prices had dropped by 16.1 cents a litre between July 11 and July 30.
He said diesel was selling at an average 172.8 cents a litre in
Brisbane, with pump prices in regional centres commonly retailing for a few cents more.
"Traditionally, diesel has been the fuel that south-east Queensland retailers have relied on to provide consistent margins in the face of weekly discounting," Mr Fites said.
"But given the steady slide in refinery and wholesale prices over three weeks, diesel users can justifiably feel cheated by a drop of little more than four cents a litre to date."
Mr Fites said refinery prices for unleaded petrol also had fallen by 13.4 cents a litre since July 11.
"Regrettably, we're finding - as with diesel - that petrol prices have been much slower to come down outside the southeast, with even major centres recording drops of only a few cents a litre over the past week," he said.
"Yet again it appears regional motorists are literally paying the cost of running their vehicles in smaller, less competitive markets than that which exists around
Brisbane."

The ACCC are also keeping and eye on the price of fuel and that's about all they do keep and eye on it and do absolutely nothing.
Makes you wonder who pays the ACCCCCCCC wages.
All the best

It's not just regional motorists in QLD, here in Northern NSW it's only now dropped to $1.83 this morning from$1.86. Three cents in a fortnight , whoopee!!. There is now a good 30 cents difference between Diesel and ULP.

So long as the prices charged for diesel keep on subsidising my petrol purcahses and those of millions of other Australians I guess you can't expect much support from the masses. Guess we all had to make choices at the time of purchase based on information available at that time. Some were good choices others not so good. Life's like that.

lol you pay for your own subsadys - the price of diesal dictates the cost of many things in your life and has done since the transport industry moved from steam to diesal

That is a very typical and shortsighted response that many Unleaded drivers have....buggar you lot....Im ok!!!
When will their little minds grasp the concept that this country runs on DIESEL not unleaded. Everything you pick up in a store got there due to shipping with diesel, even our powerstations (WA) at the moment.
So while you enjoy this small saving you are having at the pump YOU pay for the expensive diesel at the
supermarket, in your power bills, at REPCO, etc etc etc
Fight for a reduction in diesel rather than spruke off with ignorant comments about diesel subsidising your fuel costs??? That just insane!!!

Blame the Government, they double tax us and then when Bio Diesel comes out they put the same tax on it.! So they don't care what we pay. Give me a Political party that stops taxing fuel and I'm vote for them..

Kev07 has fixed the fuel prices........you pay more and he will collect more.....easy.
Oh, and he will collect more in taxes from the oil companies and fuel distributors who are also collecting more given the greater margins now enjoyed.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !

The other nasty shock received this morning after tipping 120L diesel into the Patrol @ $1.80/L was that the local BP has just decided to charge credit fee (all cards 1.5%, AE 2.5%). Hard to get upset at the girl at the counter - she tells me all BPs are going this way. Yes - it was advertised at the bowser but I didn't pick it up before fuelling.
Caltex have been doing this so I've given them the flick, now BP, who next? As if they haven't been making enough...

What > I pay too much for diesel ? Aww..come on that can't be right!
I suggested that fuel companies were making obscene profits. I was rolled on this
forum.
I suggested that the differential between petrol and diesel should be lower.
I was rolled on this
forum.
No wonder I can't make a dollar.
I've become a rolling stone :))))))

In the Eastern Hills in
Perth you can get diesel for 174.9c but the northern burbs is much higher (around us is too), I see by checking out fuelwatch the average over here for diesel is 183.9. I'm not game to check ULP, would just make my blood boil, I don't mind paying for what anything is worth but I detest being ripped off. (hubby always fills up with fuel, now you know why LOL)
Cheers
