I have just purchased a Garmin Nuvi 760 and set up my mobile phone to use through the bluetooth facility. I find in my travels that I get a beep & message 'phone not working' (or something similar) whenever the mobile signal cuts out (frequent in my area of hilly country). Is there a way to turn off this prompt without turning off the bluetooth connection. I think I can turn off the beep but the message takes up the whole screen.

Your question should be phone problem, not Nuvi 760 problem ,
I have a 760 and it never loses connection with the phone, no matter where you are ,
Your problem is in the phone settings ,

If you read the question again Doug, it is in relationship to the phone signal, not the connection between the Nuvi and the phone.

John
If you read my answer you'll see that I already know that, basicly there should have been no mention of a gps in his question .

I read it Doug, that is why I thought I should remind you where you say "I have a 760 and it never loses connection with the phone, no matter where you are" he wasn't actually saying his was either. It was the message when his phone was out of mobile range or whatever, the Nuvi actually had the broadcast across it's screen and told him. Certainly he needed to ask about the GPS as he wanted to know how to stop it telling him.

Doug, a quote from the original "Is there a way to turn off this prompt without turning off the bluetooth connection. I think I can turn off the beep but the message takes up the whole screen."

Rubbish,
May be a problem with an individual model perhaps, but Nokia will fix it anyway.
I have never experienced any problem with my 6120 connecting to a Nokia car kit, a Supertooth II hands free unit in the wifes car, or the TomTom 720 device which I just experimented with for curiosity's sake.
Someone has been spreading untruths, me thinks.
There was a problem with audible echo on the 6120 (with a Nokia car kit) when it was first released but fixed with a revised firmware update.
Bill.

I have 3 nokia e65`s for my company. All have been back for firmware upgrades. nokia put there next upgrade online so they have had that also.
I still have problems with bluetooth on them with the garmin 760 my old Motorola v3x has no problems at all.
I make a lot of calls most days and sooner or later the bluetooth connection stuffs up and phone needs to be turned off.
I for one will be looking long and hard before I hand over the money for another nokia.

Just to clarify the original question, it appears I get the message whenever the phone signal cuts out. I my country area the mobile reception is poor thanks to Telstra (I must be one of the 2% of the
population that does not get reception even though we only live 100km from
Melbourne). I will get the message on the screen telling me the phone is not connected (not sure of the exact wording) and over the next
hill the signal will pick up and then in the next dip the Nuvi will beep again and the message appears again. This can happen every minute or so if the signal is poor. I have not had a chance to see if this happens in a good reception area to determine if it is the signal strength causing the problem. As the continual interuption to the nuvi screen is annoying, I was hoping there would be a way to turn off the prompt message notifying me my phone is not working.
