Hello Zacc, We use a product specifically designed for this purpose. I suppose it does resemble shade cloth, but it is much heavier & consequently sits flat. It is not slippery & will not kill the grass.
It comes in a width of about 2.5 metres? (annexe width anyway)
and is available from any caravan retail shop & some hardware shops. Typical cost is about $45.00 per linear metre. Cheers

probably talking about the same stuff, there is a shadecloth type product that comes with eyelets around the outside of it to allow for pegging it down, sells at quite a few camping stores.

We've tried both and the proper rubberized annex matting is much better than the shade cloth product with eyelets. Much different product.

Clark Rubber have a product that is rubberised hession. Unfortunately it is very heavy. The caravan annex matting does not use hession as the foundation I believe and may be lighter and better made. Clarkes may have both. Regardless of what you use, be prepared to spend $$. Its all expensive

Shadecloth is a practical alternative and is cheap enough to replace from time to time.

We use two sections.
One underneath the camper tent and another that extends the length of the awning.

I haven't bothered with eyelets and just bang a few pegs through the shadecloth wherever necessary.

As far as Caravan parks allowing it, it is much more likely that they will insist on it. The shadecloth, or equivalent, allows the grass underneath to breathe and therefore does not die off. When the tent/annexe and the underlying woven material is removed, the grass will recover its health quickly.

we bought a product at one of the camping shows, cannot remember the name but they promote it as being used for helicopter landing pads on sandy or dusty bases. a little like shade cloth but heavier and we found it great in s.a. on the sand and gravel .smaller gravel and sand fall right thru and swmbo rates it as a must have peter

Sounds like you're referring to C-Gear. We have one of these for our annexe floor. Very good. Sand, dirt etc goes down through it, but doesn't come up through it.

Cheers,

Jeannie
