Gudday.

It's best not to use those programs to transfer pictures. Anything that you have to put in settings for changes the original file which (usually) degrades the image quality.

Most cameras these days plug in as another drive which you can go into, find the photos (often in a folder called DCIM or something), select them all, right click and go to copy (or Ctrl+C), create a new folder on your computer, right click inside that folder and go to paste (or Ctrl+V).

Doing it this way means that an identical copy of what is on the card gets made on your computer without any quality loss...

Hi Ya!

300x225 is too small and returns the result you have got.

Try importing the original photo image at its original size.
ExploreOz will automatically adjust the size to suit and give you a larger picture size. This may take longer to transfer as size adjustment must be done "on the fly" but will work.

Alternatively, you can increase the pixel size and view the result until you are happy with the result.

I used to use Easy Thumbnails to downsize an image to 50k before downloading, but now it is achieved automatically. I have photos on my Profile that started at 3meg.

G'day Steve

What?, you grown a beard again????....lol

I have an old program. Arcsoft Photostudio 2000.

First of all I make a copy of the photo I want to use. My file for that is called Photocopies in My Documents. Then I open the program and import the photo to it. Then go to Image Size in the Edit function and then change the Width settings to 600 pixels. The Height will adjust automatically. Then Save and it is all done. This works well for me.(It took a few years to get my head around how to do these things but once you have re-programmed yourself, its easy....lol)

Cheers

G'day GG's

If you are talking about downloading your pics from the camera to your PC you should have received an additional program with your camera that automatically downloads your pics when you plug in, or connect your camera/card to the PC.

On the other hand if you are talking about 'uploading' your pics to ExplorOZ then Picasa is a freebie from Google at picasa.google.com/ and you can resize to a suitable image or varying sizes. It seems like the DPI (dots per inch) is fine in your image so they just need resizing to around 400 x 300 or thereabouts.

The internet only requires images to be about 90dpi, but when they can be viewed bigger within a website they tend to get a bit blocky and don't look too good. Around 120dpi to 200dpi is good, BUT, increasing the size and quality increases the physical size of the image (now my standard images are from 25 to 45MB) and I have to cut them back severely before uploading to any website. Generally speaking if you think postcard size around 6 x 4 in or 1000mm x 1500mm they should be OK.

Explaining this stuff can get messy, but if I can help anymore I will as we are stuck at home this winter.
