Hi All, I have an EEEPC 900 notebook pc running XP with Oziexplorer and just purchased a Globalsat GPS mouse.
The problem I am having is that the GPS mouse does not seen to want to talk to Oziexplorer.
If anyone got any information on how to set this up it would be greatly appreciated

Hi Wayne57,
Not sure whether the Globalsat emulates any other brand, but Oziexplorer doesn't seem to list it (mine doesn't anyway). I know if using a Garmin, then under the Com tab in the configuration, you also need to check the "Garmin USB" as well as the "Use PVT for Garmin instead of NMEA" checkboxes.

The GPS should have come with drivers as well. I know the Garmin won't work without the proper drivers.

Cheers
Gerry

I assume the GPS mouse is one with a USB port connection.

If it is USB, XP should recognise the connection automatically.
Perhaps the EEEPC requires the USB port to be made active.
I recommend you check Start - Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager and Universal Serial Bus Controllers to confirm the port is active. Identify with Comm Port has been assigned to this connection.

Open OziExplorer and under File - Configuration, select COM and set the Com port to that you have previously identified. While in the configuration screen, select GPS folder and set to GPS NMEA Only.
Save your settings.

There is also a GPS Port Checker application you can run, or download from the OziExplorer web site (under the Utilities menu) which may be of further assistance to you.

Bill.

I had similar problems with a gps mouse I bought off ebay, Double check the com port, set the gps to nmea only and on moving map in the line of ozi menus check the start nmea communication with gps.

You need to use something like this.
Serial Port Mapper v1.3 for Windows Vista/XP/2000/NT/2003 Server by FabulaTech, Inc. (Shareware)
I tested it and it works perfectly.

EEEPC using Bluetooth has a reduced number of ports that actually match up with OziE. With this tool you can redirect say Port 11 of the Blutooth device to port 6 of Ozi.

When the touch screen version with Bluetooth builtin arrives they will be perfect for 4WDing.

I run exactly the same setup and you need to run the driver that came with the GPS, you then need to run a small program thats on the ozi explorer website called gps checker, run it with the gps connected thru the usb port and let it detect your gps and which com port its using, it will then give you the reqd info to put into ozi exploer configeration, select nmea only, if you have any drama's email me and I'll send you a zipfile with gps checker and a nifty little program that lets you see how the gps is doing, as in how many sats it see's etc

cheers
