Looks tough on the tyres! What psi would you recommend while driving a fully loaded 4wd? Thanks

I run crossply tyres at 25psi hot

With tubeless tyres I would recommend 26-28psi hot

Road is good from Lyndhurst until you turn off from the Moomba Road to head north. The last 50km into Innamincka is very corrugated(first week in July 08).

To miss the section Willem is talking about you can turn off at the junction to Cameron Corner then turn north at Merty Merty onto the old Strzelecki Track.

The original Sand Man.

You'll have no problems if you reduce your pressures to around 28PSI and keep the speed down. It has a few stony sections but overall pretty good.

We towed a caravan down it in May without any problem at all.

I have just come back from Innamincka (Sunday) and I thought the track was the best it has ever been. There are road works at the Lyndhurst end and there is also a bit of bitumen ( about 2 km) and there is going to be more. There are some rocky sections and a bit of corrugations but it was excellent. As stated in previous replies, let your tyres down and you wont have any problems.

Ather thing to think about is stone protection. We towed ours up the stezlecki in June and the gibber stones absolutely blast the trailer. Make sure everything fragile (hoses, fittings, brake lines etc) has some protection and you have a generic stone gaurd.

Gday sandman,

We went through at the end of 2006, got the all clear from the guys at nocundra and camerons corner to proceed, got halfway along and it dumped with rain, I didn't even know that the strez had a rocky surface.

Make sure however you run some form of protection under your sils ie. sidesteps.

It's one of the best trips I've been on, victor harbour in sth oz is beaut and kangaroo island down in the peninsula is awesome!
