We are looking to get a new tent - and happy to pay a bit more for a very good one.

It came down to the Oztent RV3, or Black Wolf Turbo 240.

Have pretty much ruled out the Oztent due to its length when packed.

The only negative I can find with the Turbo is that I've seen many comments that the carry bag is too small and it is very difficult to get the tent back in when packing up. Is this still an issue, or have Black Wolf recognised it and increased the size of the bag.

I know I can always get another bag, but when paying about $900 for a tent, I shouldn't have to.

Can anyone give a current answer on this?

Hi Norm, I have had the Black Wolf Turbo FS 250 for just over 12 months now, at first I had trouble getting it back in the bag but after regular use on a 6 week trip I did last year I now have no trouble in getting it into the bag plus the fly, pegs & veranda poles.
The trick is, when pulling the tent down and you have the "legs" folded up, make sure the "triangular flaps" that are created between the tent legs are all pulled out neatly, clip the small strap around the leg knuckles at the top to stop the tent from unfolding, then lay the bundled tent on a flat surface (car tailgate etc) and slowly roll the tent up as tightly as possible, then wrap the long strap around the middle of the bundled up tent and fasten. The tent should fit into the bag with a bit of poking & prodding, the zip might be a bit hard to get going at first but once it starts to run you will have no problems.

Not sure if this makes sense or not, but I'm sure you will know what I'm talking about as you try it.

Regards, John D

They have changed the bag now as we have our 2nd one and the bag is bigger....and another thing is that the straps are now longer so there is no getting frustrated with them coming off.

You wont be dissapointed with your buy......

Laura..

ps....we have had the turbo 300 and now have the lite plus 300...

Kiwi, I've had a pretty good look on the net. I can find the 300 for $939. The best I can find for the 240 is $845, from the same place, so I'm guessing that is a pretty good price.

Keep an eye out for Anaconda sales. We got our Blackwolf during a "25% off all tents" sale.

The ONLY negative.....trouble getting it back in the bag....Hmmm.

We were also in the matket for a tent and like you, it came down to the Black Wolf Turbo vs the Oztent. (The price was similar for both)
We went to a 4WD & Camping show and checked both of them out.
The Black Wolf stand had a video showing how to pack the tent up.
The Oztent stand had a pair of delux side panels thrown in for the same price. ($269 value)
We bought the Oztent.
Had to wait a few weeks for delivery, but when I got it home, we tried erecting it. First time, less than 30 secs to erect. Less than 30 secs to fold again. (Not including pegging or awnings or course)
No video supplied, or required:-))

Yes, you need to carry the tent on a roof rack, but this is no problem to me. The ease of putting up and taking down was our prime requirement. When you look further into the flexibility of the Oztent and its accessories, the choice was easy for us.

Yeah I have the Oztent with the optional awnings and zip ons etc etc and gotta say I love it. It really is a nice product and the quality is evident, the fabric and zips etc. I don't mind putting the tent on the roof rack as the weight and length is easily worth the convenience.

We have had the Turbo 240 for about 3 years now. I believe it is one of the originals (had plastic knuckles, now all changed over to metal for free). We are huge fans of our tent. It has withstood high winds and on other occasions lots of rain - at one place we received about 110mm in just a few hours with not a drop inside the tent. We have the extension and side panels for longer trips. Our tent has been used at least once every month or two for the last three years and is still going strong.
In relation to the bag, we have never had a problem however my partner is pretty anal about the way it is 'rolled' up. I have also packed it back into the bag on my own which was not difficult but took a bit more effort. If they have a bigger bag now as mentioned earlier, you will be laughing.

Have a look at the Turbo Lite 270 Plus from B.C.F. at Harbourtown. We purchased one last year on special $599.00 - RRP $699.00.
They are on special from time to time. It is exclusive to them.

Bigger than a 240 obviously. Only problem with alll B/W tents of this type is that the awning can collect water ie -- ponds up unless it has a slope on it to allow the water to run away. This can be done by dropping one of the height adjustable poles lower on one side.Always pays to do this when you go to bed then you don`t get up to a pool of water in the awning. Tent is 100% waterproof though.

No real problems repacking into the carry bag just be sure that it is rolled up tight.

No affiliation to B.C.F.
