I am currently planning a six month trek from
Melbourne to the Kimberly and am wondering whether it is worth taking a tinnie on a rack on my Kanga Trailer.
Does anyone have any input as to whether it is worth carting all the way for scenic excursions and a little fishing, or all too hard?
Appreciate any input.
Gary.

Unless you go via the Gulf and rivers in
Kakadu, not much point really, oh maybe Vic River. Not to many
places in the Kimberly to drop a tinnie in.
You could also leave it say at Kathrine on the way over and pick it up on return trip if that was in your planned route, other wise drop it at my place and I will use it up the Cape.

G'day Gary,
If you intend doing the
Gibb River Road, by all means take the tinnie, even around Kunnunarra, the
Ord river,
Lake Argyle there are many
places to put the tinnie in. Took my up there in '99 and caught Barra in Jack's
Waterhole, cruised the
Chamberlain Gorge and Lake Kunnunarra. If you go to Old Mornington you can go out to Diamond and Sir
John Gorges. I know it's a long way to haul a tinnie, but if you don't take it you will more than likely regret it.
Regards
Peter. It doesn't get any better than this!!!

PS Gary,
You will notice my rig in my reply to your query. It was taken crossing the Mt.
North creek going into
Windjana Gorge in '99, note tinnie on top.It doesn't get any better than this!!!

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the input! I am of the same view, so what if I do take it and only get it wet once or twice, I would hate to come
home thinking that I had it there, but didn't take it.
Really looking forward to the trip, guess you enjoyed it?
Thanks again Peter

gary,
in addition to the spots peter mentioned around
kununurra the
kimberley is a fisherman's paradise. you would be mad not to take your tinnie. you would regret it big time.and i mean big time.
wyndham has some good spots and the fishing around
broome is sensation and up
cape leveque. the mecca of spots is up at
kalumburu. big fish and easy to catch. you NEED a tinnie to access all the good spots.
if you want
check out my internet site. i have pics of fish you can catch and some info on where to catch them. just follow the links. any questions just send me an email.
enjoy yourself you lucky bugger.
