I just sold an item on Ebay, and used PayPal for the purchaser's payment.
A $1300 sale, combined fees of $100.
I think I'll stick to EO's Trader from now on.
And if you Google "PayPal problems", boy o boy.
After everything is finalised I think I'll give up on Ebay and close my special bank account and credit card.
cheers

I sold a jetski for 3500 and ebay/paypal fees were horrendous, told the buyer to pay cash on pickup.
ive since closed paypal after reading a bad writeup on them and cut back using ebay as
well.
Intend on using tradingpost more from now on though i havent checked there fees, hopefully not as bad as feebay.
Cheers.

I haven't had any problems with either Ebay or Paypal.
As for the Trading Post, I've been trying to sell the Courier for months. They've stuffed the ad up, used the wrong pictures, put it in the wrong category and they are a nightmare to deal with on the phone if you get the wrong person but the contrast if you get the right one is astounding.
I've only received one genuine phone call in three months - he bought it at the original price after a 6 hour drive to look at it but his girlfriend was involved in financing it and they split up or something and the sale fell through at the 11th hour.
I've dropped the price substantially from the price I had it sold at, and I'm sick to death of phone calls from people trying to sell me another option for selling the thing.
I've not had a single contact from the Trader Ad on here.
I don't think it helps being away from
Melbourne but then again there aren't many vehicles sold fully set up ready to go.
I've not tried ebay but I'm nearly at that point....
Any suggestions welcome.
Dave

Hi all,
A little tip with the trading post. They will call you from time to time to see if it is still for sale. If you have and you say it was thru the trading post they will charge you a sell fee as
well. I got caught with this so now I just say yes it has been sold but thru ebay...no more bills
cheers

What? You didn't know the fees involved before deciding to list it on ebay?
I am always aware of the worse case fee scenario when selling anything, and choose whether to commit to the contract based upon this.....most times allowing for these fees to be built into my acceptable price (eg reserve price or starting listing).
Less than 10% in fees is not too bad by todays standards for some auctions/tenders.
