ExplorOz - David & Michelle
For anyone that is interested to know some results of the recent ExplorOz survey you may have participated in - I have started to analyse some of the data. Just uploaded today is the Audience Demographic Report - you'll find a text link to open the report (a small pdf file containing pie charts) on our
site stats page. It's rather interesting (IMHO) :-)

Hi All
That Pie Chart, explaining the Audience Demographic, mentioned
the Silent Generation, does that mean if you were born before
1946 you have to keep your mouth shut? lol.
I dont hold much Credence with Pie Charts, every body wants a
bloody slice.
Cheers

Hi David and Michelle.
I didn't see the question where you asked how many members were DIO supporters, must have missed that one. Sure would be interesting.
Meanwhile, nothing to do with pie charts, but thanks for the work you have had done to the website.
I've had no drop-outs, or long hangs while browsing through the site now for a couple of weeks (touch wood)
Cheers.

The fact that 45% were 2 person homes would make sense considering 80% were married and 55% were old farts! Their kids will have flown the coup in many cases I suppose. Another interesting thing was that 8% still use dial up. God that must be slow!!!

OK so I fit the generation "X" age group.
Aside from "exciting" :-) what does the "X" actually mean??

Doesn't X represent the unknown? You know from school "find X". If so, then that's definitely me...

David & Michelle,
would love to see where "Generation Jones" fits into the demographic. I reckon there'd be a few of us fitting in between the Boomers and the "x'ers". Perhaps next time.
For anyone who hadn't heard about the Joneses.
Generation Jones is a term that describes people born between the years 1954 and 1965. U.S. social commentator Jonathan Pontell identified the existence of this generation and coined the term “Generation Jones” for it. Generation Jones has been referred to as a heretofore lost generation between the Baby boomers and Generation X, since prior to the popularization of Pontell’s theory, its members were included with either the Boomers or Xers. The connotations of the name “Generation Jones” include:
a large, anonymous generation
the slang term “jonesin,” which refers here to the unrequited craving felt by this generation of unfulfilled expectations
Gen Jones #1Gen Jones #2
Cheers. Mick

Jeez Mick don't confuse the issue :-)
I just found out I was a Gen X now you want to put me into the Jones category 1954 - 1965.
What if I don't like being a boring old Jonsey and want to stay an exciting X er??

Sorry John but under the old terms, I was a baby boomer. Now not wishing my life away, I'd love to be retired but I'm just no where near it, yet I'm a boomer. Besides, if you drop into Gen Jones, you can't really be blamed for all that blatant consumerism of the 80's that the x'ers are copping the flack for (loved it myself but....). Plus I think we're the biggest group in the generations (over 26% in the US compared to 21% for the x'ers) so government and business take notice of us (Apparently lol).
Kick back and enjoy it. Cheers. Mick
