Doug,

The best way to perform a screen capture is to use Alt - Prnt Scrn buttons together.

That way you only capture the active screen, not the whole lot.
When you past into powerpoint, or whatever, you can then crop the picture to your desired shape.

You can also use screen capture software, we use "snag-it".

With snag-it you can capture the whole screen or just a single area, you can the choose what you want to do wit it including using it in a word document, PDF file or email plus many other options.

Olcoolone
Vista has "Snipping Tool" and it's about as quick and easy as anything else I've used, I used screen capture in PhotoImpact software but Snipping tool is almost instant.
I had Ol' Crazy Dog in Cairns on msm last night and he kept asking how in hell I was doing sections of maps so quick .....bloody funny bugger he is , good bloke to know,

Why bother to confuse the guy with software suggestions when he already has the required facility on the keyboard. Print Screen button or Alt/Print Screen.

Microsoft is like an air conditioner when you open the Windows it stops working.
I use Ubuntu 8.04 Linux which is far easier to use and will capture any form of media.

AND IT'S FREEEEEEEE.
