Rosco - Qld
It looks like the weather may make for an interesting trip.
Our next great adventure is planned for 4 weeks, departing Sunday week (14/9/08). A small convoy of 5 vehicles head off to Killarney (the
most easterly point on the QLD/NSW border up on the Downs).
We then meander west, following the border as closely as possible to
Hungerford. From here we head due west following the
dog fence, with permission from Bulloo Downs to cross their property, including a visit to the Bulloo Lakes.
Down through
Warri Gate to
Tibooburra, then
Milparinka and loop west up to Cameron’s Corner. Up to
Innamincka and its environs (Dig Tree,
Coongie Lake etc).
Over Walker’s and
Warburton Crossings and up to Peoppel Corner, in to
Birdsville to re-provision, then back to Poeppel and up the
Hay River to Jervois, west then north through Ammaroo and
Davenport Range to
Barkly Homestead.
Here we part company, with the others continuing north to the Gulf and we turn right and follow the
Barkly Highway back to QLD. From The Isa, down through
Boulia and
Diamantina Lakes to
Stonehenge,
Adavale then
Charleville and back home.
That’s the plan but no doubt, the weather may have the final say, but it certainly should be interesting.
Cheers

You're right about the weather, doesn't look inviting. Good luck and try and enjoy whatever Huey throws at you.

Rosco you Mad Bastard,
Part of any trip is planning.
I'm assuming the other 4 vehicles in the convoy share your habits.
So to ensure your "re-provisioning" in
Birdsville fulfills your requirements I suggest you find out which day of the week the truck that restocks the Pub arrives. Then plan to arrive the day after that day, rather than the day before.
Cheers,
Jim.
