I would say it is the dumb ass salesman who doesn't understand it not the business he is employed by.
All the insurance company would of asked then is can you supply a blah blah blah radio or an equivalent replacement.
All they have to do is invoice the insurance company for the replacement cost of the blah blah blah radio that they are going to supply you and you pay the differance.
Try Mike at Contact Communications at
Gawler.

Yep, had a Meridian Colour GPS from a few years back that had crapped itself. I left it laying in a gear bag on it's face and the AA batteries exploded and leaked acid all through it. The acod leached downwards into the screen and stuffed it.
Rang the isurance co that does the home contents and yep it was covered and considered accidental damage. They asked me to nominate what would be the current equivalent model and based a replacement value on that.
Their contracted supplier in
Sydney then called me up and said where do you want it shipped. I asked if I could have another model and they said sure no problem. You pay any difference.
So I picked out a Garmin Nuvi 660 navigator and paid $100 difference to the insured model and received the Nuvi in the post a week later. Too easy.
Cheers
Muddy

Hi there Greendog, glad to hear the insurance company backed you up and you could tell the company that was going to shaft you to jam it. Bloody unreal some of them. They were probably getting the other at a cheaper price but send the insurance company a dodgy receipt for a dearer one and try and make a few dollars via the insurance company. All up a good result and on your way to getting your beast back to how it was. Good on you for being patient. Regards Steve M
