I'm thinking about spending a week at Inskip with the family. We have a caravan that has raised off road
suspension being towed by a Prado TD.
It's done and survived the
Oodnadatta and
Birdsville Tracks so a few sand tracks sound't be too much of a challenge.
Has anyone taken a van to Inskip and if so which access and campsite/s are the most suitable.

Wizard
We were up there a couple of months ago - just on a day trip. There seemed to be plenty of
camping available, but I got the impression there is no power. Lots of caravans with their own power sources. There are a number of
camping areas along both sides of the road leading up to the Fraser Ferry.

Note
Well - He had his generator and other gear stolen from his
camp so be carfull and pack up any Gear before you go out for the Day,they even took his Fuel can .

Inskip is accessed via a sealed road so no problem. If you go, try to avoid the school holidays...

I checked with the QPWS and there is plenty of vacanies so it doesn't appear to be too busy. Problem is our kids will be on holidays and want to go
camping, so what do you do?

Wizard1 where are you?
If in SEQ you could try Black Rock
camping area at Bunjalung Nat
Park in NSW. It's not cheap at like $14 for one adult and one child plus a $7 vehicle levy for 2 days and you need a NSW fishing licence (from any NSW tackle store - got
mine in
Ballina).
Fishing is great. Because the
rock formation is black impacted sand it is safe for kids to explore until they are buggered and they won't get cut but heaps of ledges to jump off into sand and tunnels and holes and stuff. There is also a river system 50m from the northern part of the
camp site with brackish fresh sort of
water than you can swim in and I took my 3yr old up in an inflatable exploring the waterway and she loved it.
About a 2.5hr drive from
brisbane. And if you time it right the Qld school holidays wont coincide with the NSW school holidays so there's bugger all people there. Inskip can get very very crowded, the campsites are adjacent to each other, and I found the fishing average.

Been past heaps of times at Christmas while heading to Fraser and thought no way. But from the road all you see is campers packed in to the brim parden the pun. But hey some people dont mind that. Heaps of caravans one eco
toilet block and heaps of skip rubbish
bins. Apparently its good for the fishing.

Wizard1,
I go up there with my very heavy van and stay on the calm
water side of the road right up the end of the bitumen road. I can get my rig in the soft stuff here but there is also heaps of hard compact ground in the same region. I see no reason why a lighter van aired down would prevent you from
camping pretty much anywhere up there. I think I have a photo of us up there in my rig pics. The earlier you can get there the better during any holiday period. Spread your wings a little with shower tents and fire
places in strategic spots and you will be fine. If you have a porta-potti take it. Kids make friends real quick up there and you will struggle to see them all day if yours are anything like
mine. Another reason I choose calm
water side is no traffic on this side, very safe for the kids.
Have fun,
Trevor.

InSkip - we were there last week. You can get a caravan in with a car to a lot of the sites. Just need to be self sufficient for power,
water and maybe ablutions as there did not seem to be may
toilet blocks. We were just passing through on a day trip.
Why not try Bribie where there are not so many people or
the beach north of
Tewantin where 4x4's had taken caravans into
camp sites on
the beach. They would have come in from
Tewantin as you would be struggling to get a caravan in from
Rainbow beach area.
