A couple of questions.
1. What are opening hours at the info centre in Birdsville??
2. Is there a lead time if you purchase the permit in person at eg Birdsville? Or do you just get it straight away?
3. Where is the pass for the Simpson Desert NP available from?
4. Is there a lead time on that as well?
5. Any idea how much it costs?
6. Where in Innamincka do we obtain the Coongie Lakes permit??
Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

Alll you need is the Desert Parks Pass, for all areas you mention.

The Desert Parks Pass costs $105 but is more than just a "Pass".
It includes an A4 size book with a wealth of information and a set of Outback Maps. Once obtained you can buy a renewal pass annually for a reduced cost.

What time frame are you looking at?

You can buy the Pass through the ExplorOz Shop (Shop - Permits) and it will be delivered in two or three days.

They are also available from any RAA outlet in SA, or the Birdsville Police Station, or the Innamincka Trading Post, amongst other agents around the Country.

Thanks a lot Bill.

Because this has only just come up, we would be heading west Monday week.

In the link that you posted it only mentions the DPP covering the Simpson desert regional reserve, and conservation park, but not the national park in QLD. Is that actually the case or will the DPP get you into the NP as well?? Just wanted to double check!!

Ah, you didn't mention the National Park in QLD.
You may need another permit for that one, if camping. Perhaps check with the QLD Department of the Environment or equivalent department in that State.

The Desert Parks Pass is only valid for National Parks within South Australia.
