Hi again,
just read an interesting post about the old
strzelecki track. Just want to confirm that it is still accessible from both ends? We're starting at the northern end. Is it
well sign posted?
The thread I was reading was 61336.
Thanks guys.

The Old
Strzelecki Track runs from
Innamincka to Merty Merty. It is signposted at
Innamincka but not where you cross the New Strzelecki. Not sure about the southern end as I haven't been there for a while. There is
no access directly south from Merty Merty Station as that part of the track no longer exists as a thoroughfare.
Cheers

If you are starting at the
Innamincka end, it is
well sign posted. The track ends at a T-
junction with the road to
Cameron Corner. From memory this
junction has a
sign pointing back toward
Innamincka, if you were coming from the southern end.
When heading down the Old Strkelecki, you get to the
intersection of the new track. You turn right onto the new track for a hundred metres or so, then turn left off the new track, to continue along the old. Basically, the Old Strzelecki has a dogleg in it, where it intersects with the new track.
You shouldn't miss the turnoff unless you are in the dead of night.
You may see trucks using this part of the Old Strzelecki too. We caught up with a large one and followed it for a bit, but it eventually turned off onto a private access road toward a
bore field.
OziExlorer, with NATMAP loaded will give you extra comfort, but you really don't need it. If you are driving along a rubble based track for too long and get to Moomba, you have missed the turnoff:-))
