Hi Guys,

I'm looking to purchase a camper (off road) at around the $10-12K region and have been looking around, mainly on the central coast and sydney (NSW), for a little while now. I came across Explorer Campers in west gosford and they seem to be the pick for quality and value for money. The guys definately know what they are talking about. Just wondering if anyone out there also has one of their campers or have dealt with them at all?

Mate this isn't answering your question but I take it your are having a look around at what is available?

Have a look at these if you already haven't, recently a fellow turned up and camped next to me with one of them.

I was pretty impressed with it's quality, room and it was completely dust sealed. It was in your price range. The fellow who owned it was very happy with it.

Hope you don't mind me sending the link to you, if you're like me I like to have a good look around and start comparing.

Dirt Roads,
There are a hundred and one camper trailer shops around and if you are in NSW you do seem to pay more for them than in QLD(dont know why). I bought a camper 2 years ago from Jimboomba camper trailers and have never had a problem with it. Every bit is made not bought in pieces and stuck together. They make alloy trailers which are alot lighter than steel and Rob(the owner) doesn't give you the cold shoulder if you want to customize it when it gets made. They do everything in house. Some of their designs lately have been awsome. They have a web site www.jimboombacampertrailers.com.au. I am looking at trading mine in and getting one of the new stair case designs.Alloy Camper trailers

Alloy trailers are usually built on a steel chasis , they are known to crack on the welds in the alloy after travelling on corrugations.
I'm new to this site , I have 7 years in this industry + 30 in steel
industry, and if you are going to spend $12K I assume it's a hard
floor camper with stainless kitchen , slide out type , elect. water
pump, full annex, sundry tool box , new landcruiser wheels, and to
top it off, a 12v/240v compressor fridge/freezer + elect. brakes.
Cheers Graeme.

Good luck to you if you could find a good hard floor with those specs in NSW graeme. Yes they are built on a steel chasis but after seeing what has come back from going through the centre and up to the cape i wouldn't hesitate at buying an alloy trailer. Most of those rumours you hear about alloy trailers are from people building steel trailers.
Off track ,if alloy rust so easilly as you seem to suggest then why do they make boats out of alloy. If you abuse any type of material it will brake down sooner or later nothing is indistructable. I have had mine upto Fraser and on Rainbow beach many a time and have not seen a problem with corrosion.

Aluminium does corrode, but certainly not as fast as steel. Boats and ships and aircraft made from aluminium do corrode, particularly around forged and extruded sections.

Dover 33 I know about corrosion, but, I never mention it ??
Alloy trailers can crack in the welds caused by corrugations.
It's commonly known as metal fatigue. cheers Graeme

Hi guys,
Just wanting to know where Graeme can get a hard floor camper with the list of additions that he says, and can be brought for $12, 000. Can you post a link to the manufacturer as I am keen to purchase one of these campers as I have not found one for that price.
Thanks guys.
