Yesterday Bonz and I with our respective spouses spent a beautiful day of reconnaissance in and around
The Pyrenees. Not one dent, not one tyre spike for us, and not a worry on any of the tracks.
We were aware that our friend Scrubcat was there with Geoff O a couple of weeks back so we drove up North Glenpatrick Track which troubled them. The stony base is coming through now that provides a good safe base. I remember last year, that had been recently graded and although steepish was a nice even finish. Different this year, GREAT ;-))
We drove down Fraser Track towards Avoca but didn't go into town, driving back immediatly up Old
Bluff Track and I recalled last year having one Riverland friend had a little trouble up there til his tyres were down a bit. 18 front 21 rear helps a lot on stones too.
We took some other drives to go down Old Tiger Cat Track - this was the one that Twinkles decided to turn on the gas for last year. Mrs Al, hung onto her steering wheel for driving down the first EO trip there some years back. Her kids were to know that as the F*$# F*$# Track from then on, and many others know that too, as that was what Mum cried out. Just take it easy and it is beautiful, but don't drive across the slope!
We had lunch at Camerons Track
camping area before driving down Camerns Track, up the Old King Tree Track, stony and a lovely test. I remember Fay'D'Away on that track last year. Hope you will come Bill F. Went up to Black Range Track, back down Dridan Track, up Old Mill track, before decending Emery Track - the old one. Emery vers. 111 has been built too and expect a McDonalds at the top in the future.
Fellow travellers in the area for the day included the City West 4x4 Club doing the same thing for their weekend over
Melbourne Cup period! Bonz may post a pic about vulnerability of Cooper Tyres that we have witnessed. Lady driver to boot! Other fellow travellers were a group of bikes, that split to be two of five. Ten we saw.

We caught up wiuth Col, a local that we met last year, though didn't cacth up with EO Member - Chris G, as we didn't get close to his home. Col was at the
camping area.
We intend to make sure that we have the same back up as we had last year for
water in the flushing loos.
It is pleasing that the
Recreation Reserve Committee have used our donation from last year to good effect. There is an additional
water tank at the
toilet block to last year. The trees we saw as a danger last year are
well under way in their removal. Four are down and another, though not so dangerous is programmed for removal.
To discourage fires in the area where cricket matches are sometimes played, an outside fire place has been erected adjacent to the shelter. Another will be built when the other tree removed.
We returned in daylinght to dine at the Wheatsheaf at Terang. Bonz is
well known as a personality in the area, though he doesn't know everyone. He had to ask Marie, who the lady was who wanted to kiss him on leaving the dining room!
