I was at 2 different toyota dealers yesterday and they both said that there will be no new shaping to the 2009 prado, i am still waiting for the motor show but i think i am going to be disappointed and not find anything there.

Even through they are not brining out a new model prado do you think they will upgrade the 2009 one?
- LED Lights
- Upgrade / update of interior

cheers

Brent

These spy photos were taken nearly 12 months ago:

New Lexus GX

The Lexus GX is the upmarket version of Prado - so there is something in the pipeline coming. Have read some have seen it with limited Camo and it has taken on some of the LC200 Toyota corporate shape. Guess it will be late 2009/early 2010 release

That is a Landcruiser 200. It was taken before it came out and was dressed up with different tail lights.

Not sure of this. Brenda Priddy and Co that took these photos are usually pretty spot on with their background info. These pictures have been posted on many forums and general consensus is that although this looks like a larger vehicle (200 series size) it actually isn't and is in fact the next generation GX/Prado. Couple of chops around that elude to this as well. These photos were taken well after the 200 had shed its camo, so there was no need to mask this vehicle up if it was a 200 at this date. Who knows it could be just cobbled together mule to test anything, but Priddy and Co believe it to be the GX/Prado

The model release deadline for Prado has not yet been finalised but you can most likely expect it to be released around October 09 in time for the Sydney motor show. So final product information will be some time arriving. But there are only two real options. One is that it will be remodelled to look like the rest of the line up and the other is that it will pretty much stay the same to differentiate it and of course to save development costs. My best information is the latter. There is some chance of seeing a new diesel engine, possibly having two in the line up rather then just one. Apart from that there is also a chance of the KDSS and crawl technology finding is way in as well but that is definately not confirmed as yet. Also a six speed auto is on the cards but not necessarily right across the range. More will be know around March 09

RobAck - the local dealer near here advised me back in April that there was new model coming next year. One change that he did mention was that the spare wheel was coming off the back door and going under the vehicle which would reduce the fuel tanks capacity.

I am of the opinion that a reduction back to 90 litres would be a step backwards as I love the distance one can cover with the existing model without refuelling.

You have to wonder why they would change it when they are on a good thing. Aren't the Prados still the #1 mid-size (and possbily large 4wd) wagon on the market. If they add the KDSS that's more weight, less available weight within the GVM. Placing the spare underneath takes out one of the best things about the Prado - 180 litres of fuel. Seems to me that they (Toyota and other manufacturers) are being driven more towards the urban 4wd as opposed to the real offroad needs and users.

Looks like my 2004 1KZTE TD will be with me for a lot more years yet.
