Berry Springs - magic spot. On the road into Darwin near the Zoo can't remember the name of the zoo. Remember it wasn't that far from the Kakadu turn off.

the zoo is the Territory Wildlife Park and is a must -do. Allow a full day and make sure you see one of the raptor feeding sessions.

The road south from the main Litchfield area has excellent magnetic termite mounds and a couple of quieter camp areas.

Cousens lookout in the mary river Cons park just west of Kakadu is a great place. You can camp there and see lots of salties.

Apart from the main attractions in Kakadu - Ubir, Yellow Waters,
Nourlangie Rock - Gumlon is a good spot for a swim.

Enjoy your trip, its a great part of the country that you are going to.

balko,

Gunlom is a good spot, climb to the top of the falls for panoramic views and more pools.

Maguk is the same....climb to the top where there are small falls and pools and great views.

Ubirr and Nourlangie, Cahill's Crossing, Warradjun Cultural Centre at Cooinda, Bowali near Jabiru.

Shady Camp - Mary River Conservation Park- Point Stuart Coastal Reserve walk to John McDouall Stuarts Cairn.

Annaburroo Billabong -

Have a great time

Goto Jim Jim Falls and Twin Falls... These are THE best water falls in Australia.... The rest of Kakadu is pretty average and tourist orientated compared with these falls.

Jim Jim is pretty easy to get to on a dirt road, while Twin Falls will require you to go over a creek crossing, which would probably only be about 30cm deep this time of year.

Oh yeah, when leaving Katherine head into Edith Falls as they are very nice.

Gunlom, in Kakadu is quite nice too. It has a nice swimming pool at the top.... There's a gravel road out to Gunlom and you can camp there (you can camp at Jim Jim Falls as well).

Edith Falls, make sure you walk to the top two pools, and back on the other side of the creek.

Have just got back left Kakadu Sunday now back in Jervis Bay NSW
1) even though there's no water over Jim Jim falls its well worth the walk & swim so is twin falls
2) If you can afford the chopper ride (Kakadu Air) at jabiru 45mins it worth every cent make sure he takes the doors off (the same at Katherine up to the art site & swim the heli company in the park's the better one)
3) But the pick for me is Gunlom steep walk to the ponds at the top but you can swim & look straight over the escarpment well worth the effort try & do it early to beat the heat which at this time of year is nearly impossible
4) the 2 main Art sites are about 30mins from jabiru
Take Lots of Money because anything at Jabiru or Cooinda are well & truly over priced
I would spend more time at
Edith falls then Douglas hot springs then Lichfield N/P sandy falls all the rest have too many people for my liking
have a great time regards Vince

Go to the land council office at Jabiru and get a day permit ($12 ea) to go across to Oenpelli in Arnham land. The country over the river is different to the rest of Kakadu and it is well worth it. The art at the centre there is much cheaper as well
