I had to get one once as the little blue part in the key fell out. I think it was about $130.00 and then both keys were needed to be re-coded which took about three minutes and was included in the $130 (I got the key from the Nissan dealer). Anyway it is expensive but the anti theft system is pretty good as I was trying to start the thing before noticing the electronic part was missing and no hope. Then when I got the new key which was coded to the Patrol, I tried with the spare before it was re-coded and once again, no hope.

I lost my chip (in the key) down in
Sydney once. NRMA come out and I was very nearly stung for an injector pump overhaul as directed by the NRMA tech. If it were'nt for me noticing the hole in the key (after about 45 mins of stuffing about) where the chip should have been I probably would have accepted the tech's advice to get it tilt trayed to the diesel
shop for pump pull down and repair. As it was we found the chip on the driveway of the servo and put it back in and hey presto... car started first pop. Lessoned learned (not the hard way thankfully) :-)))
Cheers, Trevor.

Speak with Nizzbits on there .... There are cheaper ones OCCASIONALLY on ebay, but they wont work with aussie spec patrols according to those stung by buying them..
Nizzbits will get the blanks cheap, works real quick, ordered
mine in morning, had next morining.
Then you go get them cut anywhere...
Then go to nissan dealer and pay for it to be coded. Some maybe friendly and do free.
You need your old keys too.. all will be reprogrammed.
if you need the remotes for the central locking, same price, but you can code them yourself.

CAn reccommend Nizzbits as
well (nizzbits@hotmail.com). Also do a ring around the dealers. They will compete. I got a key for $95 coded and all in June at
Croydon Nissan.
Cheers Mick
