There's 2 brands I like , 1 the Icom but very confusing, so that leaves GME , and the one that is simple would be the TX4400 because it has the speaker on the front .

TX4400 UHF Radio

Another bridge update has been updated.

One of these:

Uniden UH95SX

Had ours for about a year now and been very reliable and no issues on either band.

Cheers

Hi Bundy,

I have a GME 4200 that could be yours for a bottle of bourbon! Its about 5+ years old but worked well in my GU. Needed to get a smaller size radio for the cruiser so just sitting on the bench now. Its just the radio & microphone, no aerial, as I was able to reuse that on the cruiser.

Cheers

Most of the common brands will do you will... I have GME and are happy with it but I don't have it set up for long distance calling etc and only use it on group trips etc..

For your interest though if you are looking to buy I got mine through the net at a site called prestige communications and the prices were very reasonable and the unit with aerial was delivered quickly. the price I paid for unit with aerial was cheaper than the unit alone was selling for in local stores. Food for thought!

I'm very happy with my Icom400 Pro - teamed with an antenna in the ideal 'centre of the roof' spot, it has great reach. I was simply after a top quality reliable unit it, but I do use the 4 scan functions, selcall and CTCSS at times. Prestige comm on the web, as mentioned above, would have keen pricing I expect - check the bundled/packaged kits section. Anything GME seems to have a general high reputation too - I use one of their hand-helds.

Another vote for the Icom.

or for GME (Tx3400 in the family Jeep)

and the Uniden in my POS 'work' rodeo seems to have very good pickup.

(but if I were buying another, it would be ICOM)

cheers

NEVER GET A UNIDEN. I have 2 x 5 watt hand held radios. I had a problem with them, took them to UNIDEN and I havent got them fixed yet, that was over 2 months ago, it takes over 10 minutes to get through to them over the phone, then they always transfer you and say they will call you back and they never do. I just went to department of fair trading, hopefully they will resolve the issue, UNIDEN are a nightmare to deal with.

Get an ICOM or Motorola, i have used Motorola, they are unbeatable, GME are also okay.

My workplace bought 6 uniden handheld radios (uho65sx), all 6 of the radio's are now faulty after 5 months use, uniden radio's will break if used constantly over extended periods, and they are about the same price as quality products, uniden are made in china, icom and motorola are made in japan. WOULD YOU BUY A CHINESE CAR?
