Kiwi & "Grenade"
4th mechanic who cannot isolate the probelm, although he can say that it is a sensor of some sort, also the fuel pump has a major issue that will cost $8k to fix in the near future when it goes pop (something about a crack in something above it....) and the drain plug under the gear box is still not able to be undone.....
Nathan has gone to pick it up and take it to the car yard, conveniently Craig who we deal with isnt there today.....so more updates are coming.
Air flow Sensor is fine and cleaned apparently.
Thanks for your answers and replies so far but its looking like its a problem that cannot be fixed !!! (seeing that 2 nissan dealers and 2 independant mechanics cannt!)

Laura I hate to see the trauma these vehicles put people through.
Many say "Yeah but its only a few"
well I don't see as many posts about Jeep, Mitsubishi or yeah Toyota etc having so many of the same issues.
Any car can have an issue but being realistic just look at the numbers that keep coming up and we are now seeing reports of vehicles built after 2003 having the same issues.
Nissan know its an issue and refuse to deal with it as they know the problem is huge and will cost them big time to do anything.
You did the research and knew the history of these vehicles.
Why should any of this really surprise you?
Get your money back if you can, but something tells me that will be a trauma also (I sincerely hope I'm wrong)
Good luck.

I am a dyed-in-the wool Nissan lover but they have got a severe case of denial going on with this 3.0 litre engine.
When/if my 4.2 GU finally goes to God i will be changing to another brand if they have woken up and discarded this lemon by then.
Nissan are in need of a kick in the pants as far as customer service goes. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that most of their sales apart from Oz, are in oil-rich countries where cost of running them is not an issue. The Sheiks blow them up then buy another dozen

It actually doesnt suprise (never said it did either...) me but main issues seem to have been with the series 2, not 3 but now that the series 3's are reaching similar km more issues seem to be popping up, if not more so. and when you talk to your mechanic about htem and he says its the series 2 not 3 that had probs then you think you can believe them (to a point).
the same issues with later model cars are popping up cos of the km's getting on them.....getting over 100,000km where most issues are starting....ours started at 108,000km with us owning it - most likely happening before hand too and htats why it was sold.

Careful there ! ..... My 4.2 TD is good (so far!)
Hope you get your money back, or at least swap it for something a lot more reliable.
You better cut your losses, and dump it.
But I can bet it will not be another "hand grenade".
LOL

the only loss bucky will the the cost of transfering it into our name, we havent spent a cent on it apart from fuel.
so cutting losses is not a worry - there wont be any!!

Last time i was at Mootwingie NP between
Broken Hill and Tibbubura, i got speaking to a traditional owner, who was driving a Navara 3.0 on the 7th motor.....i asked what maintenance was done and he replied, when the filter gets clogged, we get a new motor...
I hope all goes
well today, if you can trade it for a 4.2 turbo GU, do that.
Andrew

Laura,
I feel for you.
Mine was a 2000 grenade. It played up in the Duea national
park. We camped in the Bendethra Valley where the only way out other than driving would be a slow, difficult, expensive, recovery. Luckily I got it out the next morning and straight to the dealer.
2 weeks later I had a new 4.2. It hasn't missed a beat in the last 3 years. Been through the gulf country, deserts etc.
Get rid of the thing and get a 4.2.
Cheers

The boss of the car yard gets back mid next week (on a variety bash thing - wonder if he's on that yellow booze bus???re ch7 last night) so will know then what is going to be happening as the guy we spoke to yesturday couldnt do anything without Craigs approval which is fine.
The mechanic rang them before ringing us and told them that he couldnt fix it etc instead of it coming from us.
Will keep you all posted.
Cheers.....

You have my sympathies
Hired a Camper about 10 years ago
Sydney Broken Hill Adelaide Melbourne and back to
Sydney thought it was going to be Merc diesel, turned out a VW petrol. Head winds from
Nyngan to
Peterborough the only thing that moved fast was the fuel gauge.
From just into SA the thing started playing up, stop to refuel which was often and it would go OK for a while, thoughts no air getting back into tank, slackened of fuel cap no difference. The beast finally gave up the ghost out of
Adelaide, I had been in touch with the rental company and they said to contact SA automobile club or whatever it is called, I guy come out and ended up towing us into
Adelaide. Next morning started OK. no VW dealer with the required soft ware to
check it out, take it to
Melbourne, so we limped on, found by now if you stopped about every hour for half an hour or so it would go OK.
The
Melbourne VW people were expecting us and were all ready to go, Ooooh Dear the Aircon was to high to get in the door, some time later they got the computer out to the vehicle and hooked it up. No prizes for guessing the result. Nothing Wrong.
The hire company then suggested heading back to Syd and they would send another Camper down to swap.
The bloody thing went like a bird, rung to say all OK got back and all I got off was 3 days hire.
I guess the Nissan has been hooked up to a the computer?
Moral I won't touch another VW and never owned or will own a Miissan

puts a nasty story into a holiday doesnt it...then only to get 3 days hire off -
well, its better than nothing I spose.
Its been hooked up to 4 computers with no go - 2 different nissan dealers couldnt help so the other 2 had no chance I spose!
To make things worse, the light came on yesturday morning heading into Kangaroo Valley (down the mountain) and lost power - it was a little slippery Nathan reckons cos it was still icey.
it came on a total of 6 times yesturday and in the end the light didnt turn off.....but did once we gave it 30 minutes at
home to think about it!
