Hi all,
Just letting you know we have left N.T. and are heading south (in Roxby Downs at moment). We left Darwin after spending 3 weeks there. Got 2 Barra -68cm & 70cm. It's a hard life. We headed to Alice via Kakadu, even did the jumping crocs, unreal. Visited Edith falls on the way south. 1 week in Alice(found garnets at Gem tree) before heading to Ayers rock via Kings canyon. Both girls (aged 5&7)managed the rim walk one day then 9.4 kms around the rock the next. Big effort.
A quick trip out to the Olga's before heading to Mt Dare and Dalhousie for a swim then onto Oodnadatta, Coober Pedy, William creek and the back way into Roxby Downs. It was like coming home as we spent 8 months here early on in the trip. From here it is down to Adelaide, across to Murrayville (near Pinnaroo) to see my sister then south to Mt Gambier maybe via the border track if I'm aloud to take my trailer on it. Anyone know?
From there back to Melb for a week before heading to Tassie for another 2 and a half months( ticket on boat booked and ready). Girls fly over this time.
After this we will spend 3 weeks home in Gippsland seeing friends and family(haven't seen in 2 years) before starting on the east coast.
We are still having a ball, seeing so much. I noticed a thread a while back about home schooling on the road. Both our girls are ahead of other children their age in school plus they have life skills and knowledge they could not possible learn in school. Socially they play with anyone and talk to everyone.
I think it is going to be hard to stop ( if we ever decide to). Girls have decided the best place in OZ is everywhere. All I know is this is an amazing country and I am very blessed to be able to see it. Spending an amazing amount on fuel at the moment.

My best advise,
Don't read about it, get out and do it.

If you saw how much gear we had piled up in the other seat you wouldn'twant be there lol. It's amazing how much stuff you pick up along the way. Keep sending stuff home but just seems to keep collecting. The girls are especially good at collecting.

Josh,

I believe that the Border Track is closed from mid October every year for the bushfire season.

Hi Josh,

Great to hear things are fantastic - we still haven't taken off and the diesel pump in the cruiser has just died $3,000 expense we were not expecting...... oh well at least it happened now and not down the track (so to speak), it will set us back a few days as well as we need to do the diff's before we go, we were supposed to get the cruiser back last week, however we wont get it back till today or tomorrow, our house settles Monday and we will have to camp on my sisters front lawn whilst the diff's are done. We are looking forward toTassie although it will cost us $500 each way on the ship as all in all we are over 11metres, how did your girls go on the ship over? did you do the day or night trip? not sure how to approach with our girls (6 & 8).

Matt is keen to catch a few of those Barra!!!!!!

Cheers Matt & Caz

Hi Matt and Caz,
Sorry to hear about the hold ups. We know the feeling. We just replaced the timing belt, water pump and radiator, plus sorted an electrical problem. A lot easier to do at home than on the road.
If you are doing a day sailing (as we did) I would recommend taking some videos if you can play them on your laptop. Very boring at times. When we went they did not provide much entertainment for children. Even a few board/card games might help. We head over on the 23rd Nov. I'm going on the boat, girls are flying. Cheaper for us and something different for girls.
Matt, let me know when you are going after the Barra, I'll join you. It is good fun.
Well, hope things go smoothly for you from here on.

Still having fun
Josh

Hi Josh,

Thanks for the tips, we may go over during the day just for the experience then come back at night, we will probably stay in Tassie for a few months - Racheal is keen to to do Cadbury factory tour!!! (she is her mothers daughter LOL) although the factory no longer do the tours (stopped in April due to workplace health and safety) they do a talk now and you can still by discounted chocolate (this is the main priority for the 2 of us!!!), although it is really disappointing as it would have been great for the girls to see how its all done.

Cheers
Matt & Caz
