Just about to drive the nullabor again and this time thinking of fitting a cruise control unti to my ute, i have a 2004 triton 2.8TD club cab manual. I am towing a Outback sturt camper so have a bit of weight behind me including on the tray.
Was looking at command cruise control units, are these good? which is best vacuum or electric??
don't have a huge budget for this mrs doesn't know about it yet....... or the long range
tank thats ordered.....
any help appreciated

I have a Auscruser fitted and with a load I've found that it can over speed the set speed by 6KM after a steep
hill climb on the descent.

I've fitted (had fitted) a command after market cruise control to my last two vehicles. Both manual, so factory cruise was not available.
Previous vehicle was an 05 Hilux and the vacuum cruise worked fine. Should also be good on your Triton.

I've got one of these units in my TD triton at the moment, can't fault it either.

I just fitted a Commander AP-60 (vaccuum operated), to my Chev 6.5 V8 GU Patrol. I did it all myself (not bad for a bankie, hey??!! haha).
The only problem I had was trying to contort my old body up under the dash to connect wires to brake light switch and install a clutch switch etc.
Oh, hang on, I did have one other issue, but I was pleastantly surprised when I phoned the help line number in
Sydney.... I got straight onto a bloke who didn't have English as his 3rd language and he put me straight by asking me one question: "Do you have LED tail/brake lights?" . I said "Yes". He said that I needed to fit a relay into the brake line wiring and he faxed me through a separate instruction sheet which made perfect sense and once I installed that it all worked perfectly.
I gave it a big test out over the weekend and it was great.
No affiliation.

i got the same as Roachie and cant fault it.
have convinced 3 other mates to get them as
well and all are pleased. You can get them for around $200 and they will do the same job as the dearer jobbies. cheers

I have an Autron on the Patrol and it was around $700 fitted many moons ago, That model was needed due to the electronic throttle control and thats what made it pricey.
I had a $150 K-Mart job on a [previous car and it didn't work
well when the car was pulling up hills etc with a load in it let alone towing.

I'll second Bonz on the Autron. They're cheaper to install in the fly-by-wire vehicles these days. I had
mine put in 18 months ago in
Melbourne for about $500. My second unit (had one in the Navara). They perform really
well, and towing doesn't affect them adversly at all.
Cheers
