Hi Axel,
I can only speak for Oztent. Very
well made, strong and very easy and quick to set up. We have had no problems with ours at all. My only gripe is the bag is very snug when packing up which slows the process a bit.
Cheers
Kev

Hi
A little tip that may help. After folding the tent roll it, place the strap underneath and do it up tight.
Instead of trying to lift the tent into the bag, place the bag over the tent, flip it over and give it a shake.
We now find it a piece of cake and there is room in the bag for other poles etc.
We aslo leave the tent fly on when packing. Packed up in no time without any arguments :-)

Both good tents.
How much space you got.
I have black wolf turbo 300.
looked at oztent too, similair money, but unless you got a roof rack they no good, packed size is huge, that was what stopped me buying it for sure.
Black wolf fits in back of my dual cab.

If I was in the market for a new tent I would go the Black Wolf for two reasons.
1. Black Wolf is almost as easy to erect and is square (a bit more depth)
2. Cost, Black Wolf is cheaper. And Oztent ends up a two Meter long bundle when packed and can generaly only be carried on a roof rack.
Both good products though. Regards,, Foxhound (WA)

If you are going to be staying in one place for a few days occasionally, then the blackwolf might be better as they do have a bit more space (and more size choices up to quite large tents). Depends how many people are going to be using it.

WE got the Blackwolf and i find it great. Looked at the Oztent as
well but thought that the Blackwolf had more useable space for a tall person like me. Oztent is probably a faster pitch but the extra 5 mins for the Turbo wasnt a problem for us. The size was also a a turn off for us, however we always carry on the roof, so it wouldnt have made any real difference.
cheers

just purchased the oz tent over the black wolf
1. easy to put up
2. the awning is attched to the tent can use or not up to you.
3. has a fully enclosed anexe if required.
4. floor was thicker more
water proof.
down side
1. must go on roof rack.
2. flloor space has some waste due to the slope of the walls.
I figure i only use the tent to sleep in and most of my time is around the
camp fire.

I just bought an oztent and the first thing you have to decide is , do you have a place on the roof rack where you can always carry it . My RV4 that i bought is 350mm wide packed so i need 350mm wide space on the racks all the time . This is ok for me because i have a 350mm space beside the rhino basket on the roof racks . The next thing you have to decide is how many people do you want to sleep in it . The tent by itself from unstrapping off the racks , lifting it down , unzipping the bag , removing the bag and folding out then standing the tent up takes no more than 2 minutes . So that means that if there is not much wind and i dont peg it down then i could have the tent set up with self inflating matresses and doonas , pillows thrown in and ready for bed in about 3 minutes . If you have to peg down then the ropes are attached to the tent in little pockets and it would take an extra 2 minutes if that . So 5 minutes all up . The beauty of the oztent is that you can buy peaked side panels and front doors and flys to add on if you want something more ellaboarate , but you dont need to use them if you dont want . The front awning on my RV4 is 2400mm long by about 2000mm deep and now i dont have to carry my heavy gazebo . The oztent has a completely waterproof tub floor and ripstop canvass . It looks like it will last me a lifetime . And you know the best thing is that you can sell them second hand for around what you pay for it . The tent by itself is real fast to put up and i have no trouble putting it back in the bag , hell i have done it about ten times in the back yard at least . Cheers . I can try to answer any other questions you may have .

Looked at this myself a couple of years ago and decided on the Black wolf. Points that I considered:
1. Storage: I could get the BW in the car behind the front drivers and passenger seats under the kids feet (for a few years, I guess) and this saves lifting a quite heavy item onto the roof racks.
2. Durability. A mate of
mine bought an Oztent and it developed holes in the canvas where the 'frame' rubs against whilst packing and unpacking. The service from Oztent was excellent with an immediate replacement. I don't know whether this is a common issues. I haven't heard another complaint like this. Both tents are built very robustly IMO.
3. Shape: I liked the shape of the BW and I can easily stand up in the thing to get dressed and undressed. There is very little 'waste' space where the walls are sloped so has great 'useable' space.
4. Pitching time: I tried both and there's not much in it. With both tents, the time it takes to get it out of the car, out of the bag exceeds the pitching time with both so it's about even I reckon.
5. Fly sheet: The addition of a fly sheet with the BW tent I felt to be a positive, mainly for really hot areas, where it provides a bit of an air gap and helps to keep the tent cooler. You can leave it off, as I did for an 8 week trip to the
Kimberley. The fly is a little fiddly to erect and adds a couple of minutes to the overall time.
6. Storage Bags. Both a little difficult to get back in initially, but with the BW I noticed it became easier as I gained experience and as things 'loosened' up. I imagine the same would apply for the Oztent.
They're both great tents and I feel you would be more than happy with either. Just pick the one you feel suits your method of use and intended storage needs better.
Cheers,
Mark

Compared the two at a 4WD show. Both were around the same price.
Didn't like the fact that the Black Wolf Turbo came with a DVD to demonstrate how to colapse the tent.
Liked the OzTent for the large size awning, as
well as ease of erecting and colapsing and the range of accessories available.
With the awning erected, you have a practical living/cooking area between the tent and the back of the vehicle. Add the side panels (I have the peak side panels) and you have an area protected from wind as
well as rain.
Add an optional front to the awning/side panel arrangement and you have a completely separate room.
You can also join two OzTents together for a larger family area if you wish.
As we already had roofracks, the choice was easy for us.

If you get the oztent, when you put it on the roof, put it zip down with the zipper tag at the back of the car.
Reason is coz the zip isn't
water proof and if you put the zip tag at the front the wind opens the zip to the first physical barrier.
I like my OzTent RV5 with pitched walls etc. I don't think I have ever had a good look at a Black Wolf.
