Does anybody know where I can get hold of one of these square (ish) Shaft Lock Pins, please? Plenty of
places sell them with the curved spring, but the square ones are hard to find.
Image Could Not Be Found
Thanks in advance for any ideas....

Thanks Peter,
I'm trying to get 4 of these for the legs on the Ultimate. The drop nose pins get lost etc and I'm hoping that these ones can be held on with a length of chain etc, so they can't get lost/left behind.
The "D" shaped ones work okay, but are more difficult to fit onto the squared-edges of the legs.
I've tried the local tractor
places and they only have the rounded type.

Roachie,
The most likely place is your local tractor or machinery dealer. If you have already tried them without success you may have to import some. They are also called Coupler Shaft Pins. A company called nanshun in Taiwan makes them but I dont know if they have agents in Australia. I have a Bare-Co catalogue and they only have the curved ones as far as I can see.
Try:

Roachie,
The one on the right is exactly what came with my bike carrier. It is a Thule Brand 4 bike carrier - you can get spare parts from Thule from some Auto or pushbike shops. Have a look at their web site.

Mine suit 2" section)

Thanks Cookie,
Was that the squared-type?
All the tractor
places I've been to so far only have the "D" shaped ones with the semi-circle spring clip....

Hi, Roachie, you can get pins like that from farm implement
places we use a lot of the on the tractor etc at the club , you can get then from Auto Crash in Pirie , we have them in sizes from 3/8 up to 1/2" I reckon , they have a "D" shaped spring over centre ring on them would be easy to attach a chain or such to.
Cheers Des.

Thanks Des,
Yes, I have found plenty of
places that stock the "D" shaped ones.
The job I need them for relates to square box section tubing and that's why I'm specifically chasing the ones like in the photo with the square spring, instead of the rounded one.
Thanks anyway.

Re that pin on the right Bill - my Campomatic uses them too, for locking of the stabiliser legs and also the main box closure. Only diff is that the retaining clasp on
mine is curved - not squared. Anyway - if you get stuck, Campomatic in
Sydney seem to be geared up and organised now - I rang and ordered some new gas struts the other week - very good price and delivered promptly to my door via A post [
http://www.campomatic.com.au ].

Hi roachie
If you have the pins maybe you could make your own square springs out of stainless welding wire as this has a fair amount of spring to it and it might do the job.

G'day Roachie,
I don't know about the exact pin you are looking for but in the past I have had success getting odd pins and clips etc. from yachting chandlers.
The place that springs to mind in
Sydney is Universal Engineering Supplies used to be in Marrickville not now though

If your after the one on the right they are a standard part on the Caterpillar skid steer (bobcat). They hold the safety brackets for the lifting ram on the machine.
As said above you should be able to get em from agricultural outlets.
Cheers Luke

Hi Roachie
They were also used on the Case IH !600 and 2100 and 2300 series harvesters to lock the Mcdon front on.
Try a CNH dealer

Damn! I went to the local Case dealer here today and they had a similar pin (not exactly the same, but it would have been okay), but the damn things were $19- each!!!!
The ones I've seen on the net are only $3- each.....
Search continues..... hahaha

Hey Bill,
Have you tried Rocky River Ag, and Crouch Rural at
Crystal Brook?
Might be worth a try.
